OCT A stranger, entirely unknown to any of our citizens, died on Saturday last at the Minnesota House, In this city, after a short illness, ot inflamation of the lungs On the day before he died, Dr. Hawley was called in and prescribed (br him. but he re fused to take medicine, and paid and dis charged tbe Doctor, who at the time had no hope of his recovery. In making the pay- ment it was noticed that he had quite a large sum of money, in gold, in his wallet, which tallied with an account that he had before given of his intention to purchase a (arm. Soon after his death one of the boarders at the Minnesota House, and who had assisted in taking care of him, took hia clothes to his room, and after locking the door left, and has not since returned to the house, although he still remains in the town. On teaming the faces of the case, Mayor PhflUa eiaUed the Minnesota House, and jointly with Mr. Friedricks searched the clothing, in which was found hut the sua of $8,50—the wallet was gone The person who took charge of the clothing, al though known before to be possessed ot little money, has since been in possession a large amount in gold, which he says he received wom the oU country. It i* pretty certain that it belonged to the stranger. ,. CRBBBT OBOVB. '.' ,, S IStA«fD.
