James Lingle, Morgan, pd SPUD PICKERS STRIKE FOR INCREASED WAGES Minnesota Lake—The CIO and AFL may have their labor troub les, but last week such troubles hit a Minnesota Lake farmer when Art Putz’ spud pickers went on a “sit-down” strike for higher pay. It all came about when the “laborers” held a conference with their leader ar.d decided that a bushel was not enough for picking up potatoes. After a few moments of secret balloting they decided to strike for five cents a bushel. Mr. Putz was called to confer with the leader of the youthful strikers and an agree ment was reached, whereby they got their five cents.
