Instead it had fallen into a hole dug for an electric line post and was unable to get out. When found it was quite thin but able to walk and is now gaining every day. Mrs. Anna Anderson weekend at her home in Sleepy Eye. Theodore Hojem of Leader is visiting his grandmother, Mrs. Emma Thorston. Mrs. Jorgen Pederson and sons of Brookville attended services here Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Gus Ziegenhagen and Mrs. Carrie Jensen were at New Ulm Friday. Lloyd Thorston and Gordon Jensen attended a Luther league convention in St. Olaf’s church near St. James Friday evening and Saturday. They were dele gates from the Sundown league. Mrs. Henry Hemmingson and Mrs. Anna Anderson visited Mrs. Earl Deeg at St. John's hospital Thursday evening. Mrs. Ida Tonak visited Mrs. L. H. Clements at Clements Satur day afternoon. William Berg of Three Lakes purchased the farm occupied by the Gus Ziegenhagen family Sat urday. This farm was owned by the John Hancock Life Insurance company and consists of 160 acres. It sold at S7O per acre. Peter Skow of Sand Point, Idaho is visiting his brother Mi chael Skow and family. He ar rived here Wednesday from Pine River where he visited his moth er Mrs. C. N. Skow. Mrs. Louis Lawrence went to Rochester Tuesday to visit her husband who is a patient at St. Mary's hospital. Mrs. Lester Stewig of New Avon visited her uncle Julius Jensen Monday afternoon. Mrs. Norma Doepke of Wabasso visited her sister Mrs. Leander Meyer a few days this week. Theodore Dokken of New Ulm spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. H. F. Meyer and family. Henry Skow who is employed near Fairmont visited friends here Sunday. Mrs. Maren Hemmingson, Mrs. Hans Dalsgaard and Mrs. J. I. Johnson of Springfield attended Mission services here Sunday. Rev. Hompland who is home on furlough from China gave three sermons. Mr. and Mrs. Miller Jensen had as their guests Sunday for dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Olson and daughter Bernice of Brookville. Lamberton Man and Rochester Girl Wed By Mrs. W. E. Schei Lamberton —Arthur Schultz of Rochester announces the marriage of his daughter, Leola Amelia to Guy Wallace Keller, Sunday, October 3 at the Trinity Lutheran parsonage in Rochester. The groom is the- son of Mr. and Mrs. William Keller at Lamberton and is a graduate of the Rochester High school as is his bride. They were attended by the bride's sister, Miss Velda Schultz and the groom’s brother, Burdette Keller. Following the wedding services and dinner the bridal party left for the Twin Cities. Mr. Keller and his bride arrived here Friday and left Saturday for Rochester where they will live. Mr. Keller ar.d his brother are managers of a grocery store there owned by their brother-in-law Bud Tauer. Mrse. J. J. Slaby of Aberdeen, S. D. came Saturday to spend the weekend with her mother, Mrs. W. E. Schei. At Huron her sister, Mi’s. L. E. Pasek, who had been in South Dakota for the week joined her. They were also accompanied by Willard Anderson of Aber deen, son of Mr. and Mrs. A 1 Anderson of Windom who met him here and he spent Sunday at Windom. They returned to Aber deen Sunday accompanied by Mrs. Schei and Mrs. Pasek, who will visit at the Slaby home. Mrs. Gerhardt Ramstad of Far go, N. D. who has been visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mayer underwent an operation at a New Ulm hospital Saturday morning. Her husband arrived to be with her at the time. Mrs. Ramstad was formerly Miss Lucy Mayer. Rev. and Mrs. C. Tollefson of Montevideo came Thursday to at tend the English Lutheran Ladies Aid and were overnight guests of Rev. and Mrs. P. A. Strommen. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Moots and 90ns left Sunday for a visit with relatives at Fargo, N. D. Miss Cecelia Fredrickson of St Paul was a weekend guest of her mother, Mrs. Ole Fredrickson. Chris Mardahl who for 12 years has been employed on county roads and for 8 years has made Lamberton his headquarters has severed . his connection and left for Belview where he has rented rooms. ' Tom Nelson who has for sev eral years been employed on the county road as truck driver and maintenance man has decided to farm. Joe C. Johnson has pur chased his truck and taken over the work. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Whittet and son visited at the Ross Bar ber home at Vesta recently. Miss Grace Frasch who has been visiting relatives and friends here left Friday morning for her home in Minneapolis. Here is a very good use for them if you have no other plan— Beat the 12 egg yolks until thick and cream colored. Beat in ltfc cup sugar thoroughly, running it in gradually just ahead of your electric beater blade. While this is beating sift I*4 cup pastry flour, 3 tea spoons baking powder, % teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon flavor. Remove dough from beater and fold in flour—add Vi cup of boiling water, mix carefully. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes in tube pan or 35 minutes in two 9 inch layer tins. Orange icing will keep this cake fresh for tomorrow’s dinner if you are serving your angel food cake today—and is make as follows — Melt 2 tablespoons of butter, add grated rind of one orange, *4 cup orange juice, 1 tablespoon lemon, % teaspoon salt and 3 cups powd ered sugar. Blend until absolutely smooth. Or cut the gold cake in half crosswise and spread with Velvet Icing. Place top layer and spread the outside and top with 2 cups whipped cream sweetened with 2 tablespoons powdered sugar and flavoring. Velvet Icing—Put 2 egg whites in large bowl of your electric beater and cook 1 cup sugar, 1-3 cup water to soft ball stage. Pour at once in fine stream into the egg whites which by now should be stiff. Continue beating until cool and spread. • • • Request Recipe—Sultana Nut Frosting. Cook 2 cups brown sugar, % cup heavy cream, cook until mixture forms soft ball when tried in cold water. Turn onto large platter, beat until creamy, using spatula of beater, add V\ cup seedless raisins cut fine and V\ cup English walnut meats broken and spread on cake. • • • You are invited to call us for any service we can give you. Increase School Levy At New Ulm New Ulm—The school board at New Ulm voted last week to in crease the school levy from 565,000 to $70,000. It is intended that the extra $5,000 will be add ed to the sinking fund for future improvement and building pur poses. The new levy increases the annual sum earmarked for the sinking fund to $15,000.
