After the program had been ren dered, fruits of various kinds were served and when the inner man had been satisfied with the delcacies, all seemed to feel rapturous and readily partook in games, etc., and when the time drew nigh for the assem blage to break up we heard nearly everyone express, with a feeling of earnestness and gratitude, that it was one of the most pleasant events to be stored in their memory with past remenisences. It would go twice as fast if a dollar became only a half dollar in pur chasing power, as a Mexican dol lar is now. Every silver and every paper dollar is as good now as every gold dollar. And they have been' so since 1879. The republican party has declared they shall con tinue so. And the government under that party's laws since 1873 has coined fifty times as much silver as was coined by all parties from 1792 to 1873. The money is all good enough. What is needed is "the chance to earn it." To cure the disease apply the reme dy in the right place—don't cut off a toe to cure the toothache. We have the same money now that we have had for twenty years. And that means that we had it under "McKinleyism" in 1892. Nothing is more important than protection to American industry. That's what we had in 1892. That's what we want most in 1897, that we have not now.—Ex. Tablets, Pencils, Erasers, Rul ers, Slates, etc. We are head quarters in this Line because we carry the Largest Stock and the Best Assortment as to values. You want the best you can get for your money. That is the kind we keep. WORTHINGTON, MINNESOTA, ^tJRSDAT, SEPT. 3, 1886. At Odd Fellows' Hall. Among the pleasant affairs of the past week was that of the dedication of tbe Odd Fellow's new hall last Saturday evening where a large num ber of members and a few of their friends gathered to enjoy a very pleasing program which had under gone much rehearsing preparatory for the occasion, and as the result of anything under the auspices of this fraternity it was a grand success and those honored with invites to be present realized that no pains were spared to cater to their enjoyment. Mr. M.E. Lumm addressed the gath ering in a few well chosen words and welcomed the visitors. He also an nounced the healthy growth of the order since its organization here which occurred two years previous to that evening and, as an Odd Fellow he emphasized the words, "We are brothers." W. Bangs has returned and is now ready for business. 4-1-p Don't forget to attend the doings at the wigwam next Thursday evening. Mrs. D. L. Riley, of Lakefield, was over on Monday to see about the prospects for making arrangements to have her daughter, Lou, attend school here the coming term. When at the depot last Sunday night, Monday forenoon and night one would actually think that there would not be enough people ]#ft in town to form a "Corporal Guard" as it seemed they were all going to the state fair, but, however, there were enough to make a showing on the street corners and keep the political wheels revolving. Inhere came to our table, this week, another infant paper, Vol. 1, No, 1 bearing the name of'C. W. Foote as editor. The name adopted for this journal is "The Republican" and *is pseudonymous to the party but is re publican out and inside. Its editor was a former pusher of the ADVANCE and /live bespeak for this journal, thoiigh it is the fourth paper depend ing On support from the little town of S|. James, a live future. The initial number of the St. James Gazette arrived at our sanctum last week, a genuine newspaper in all de partments and comes right up to the standard a straight republican paper. T. J'Nicholson, a former editor of the Emerald at this place, is at the helm which promises the Gazette a bright future as he will make it just such a sheet as the citizens of St. James will learn to value, and appreciate the efforts of its good and earnest manage ment. Our esteemed mine host, Gay Allen, left last Tuesday evening for LeMdrs and we are told that it was with the intent to return a benedict and that his choice for a life partner is Miss Mary Connely. Both parties need of going into the details of their past history, but we feel it a duty to congratulate the happy couple as they take this Hymen's step and wish tliem ail that could pertain to their wellfare. Boiling River it is sure enoagli. It is not as large as the Miss issippi, indeed it is quite sma 11, but a mighty in teresting stream for all tbat. It issues from the sides of a mountain in a thousand tiny rills, more or less and of almost any colors. Theseteather tlihmselves into pools and lakelets on the mountain's side, cover ing an area of aboutZOO acres. Over flowing their bounderies they slowly tricklii down the sides of tbe mountain formitng small cliffs, the most wonder ful in (he world. From a distance one wouldfhardly believe what tbe eyesight reveals—white, black, orange, lemon, terracotta, gieen, blue.aed, pink, sep erate and in manifold combinations stand but before him. It is a hill of painted cliffs on the aides of the moun tain that rises h'gh above. And the odd part of it is tbat each of tbese ex quisite colors represent a different tem perature. Does that startle your cred ulty? Even so it is true. When throng with this beautiful paint ing process, these waters again comes together and then, as if full of mischief liKe a pack of small boys trying to play hide and seek, dive down and remain under the ground for a space of two miles and then flow out from the mouth of a conyonita as one of the clearest, most beautiful, green streams imagin able. Where these waters emerge from the mountain into the little lakes they are hot, boiling hot. During several hundred feet and also many degrees of hotness, so that when they again see daylight they were much cooler. This then is Boiling River,: an under ground mountain stream of hot water. But you ask, where is it? Where can I see it? it is in Yellowstone Park at Mammoth Hot Spriugs. It is one of the lesser—mind you the lesser wonders of tli'B land of wonders. Go there and see it by all means but first send to Cbas. S. Fee, General Pass enger Agent, Northern Pacific Bail road.
