Schools. nominated as Clk. of the District Court. Pannell for Auditor, Smith for Treasur er, Cory for Pro bate Judge,Wil liams for Cor- The primary election' for the nom-' ination of congressman, senator, rep resentative and county officers held on'Thursday, marked the close of an interesting contest. The voters took considerable interest, especially in the selection' of congressman and sen ator,' and a large vote was polled. Congressman McCleary has for a humber of- years been acting along lines and in favor of measures that did not represent the sentiment of the voters of this county, with the re sult that they gave a majority of nearly 200 to Hon. Gilbert Outtersen, his opponent. Perhaps the most interest centered about the contest between Senator Shell and S. B. Bedford. Like Me Cleary, Mr. Shell has not ,been in sympathy with his constituents' who had retained him in office' for four teen years. Seeing no hope that he would come back to them, and re membering his attempt to trade off his office to the people of Murray county to secure another term for himself, the intelligent, thinking voters of Nobles administered a stinging rebuke by giving Mr. Bed ford the handsome majority of 400 in Nobles county. Over in Murray the conditions were somewhat differ ent, but the political tricksters at Slay ton could not deliver the votes they had promised, and Mr. Shell re ceived less than 75 majority in that county. The signal defeat of Senator. Shell and the majority given against Con ^gressman McCleary should serve as notice that our people have become tired of the impositions of the trusts and corporations, and will use the potent ballot to protect their imter eets. It might aLw serve as a lesson r.-., Bedford Nominated for Nobles County Declares for Rule of the People By a Majority of 400. The Strength Developed By Bedford a Surprise Even to His Supporters. The Wire Pullers at Slaytbn Could Not De liver Enough Vptes to Save Shell. to the political traders at Slayton tbat the days of political bossism is at an end. The independent voter has learned his power and will fight for his freed.om. The democrats had no contests and their"candidates were nominated as1 fellows: Senator—John Fljnn,lVorthingtgn Register of Deeds—J. H. Rew, of Worthington. County Commissioner. 4th Diet.— O D. Bryan.
