EXPULSION OF THE JEWS.
Mr. Pendleton introduced " tlie following
resolution, on which he demp nded the pre
vious question - '.- u ... '-
Whereas, On the 17th day of December,
18G2, Major General Grant, commanding the
Department of Tennessotvdid publish the fol
lowing oraer, to-wil:
"HEADQUARTERS THIRTEENTH ARMY CORPS,
DEPARTMENT OF THE TENNESSEE,
OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI, December 17, 1862.
[General Order, No. 11.]
The Jews, as a. class, iolatig Mevtt-T.reti-
mtion 01 trade established by tbe Treasury
Department, also Department orders, are
hereby expelled trom the Department within
twenty-four hours from the receipt of tbig
oraer oy post commanders. ' ''
They will see that all this class of people
are furnished with - passed and J required to
leave ; and any one returning after such no
tification win be arrested and held in confine
ment until an opportunity .occurs of sending,
mom out as, prisoners, tiiuessn lurnwbea with
permits from these headauarters.
No passes will be giveo these people to
vtsu neaaquarters tor the purpose ot making
personal application lor trade permits.
