tion of coffee-drinkers to the fact that Mr.
$ugena Dutoit, East Fifth street, is manufac
turing Svqnslilj of Coffee which is proaonne-
ed equal to Iks beat Rio, by persons compe
tent to decide. Many persons prefer it to the
coffee for which they pay 40 cents per pound,
and others who esteem themselves Judges of
coffee have been enable lo distinguish be
tween them. This coffee is composed prin
cipally of Bio, and has added to it an excel
lent article that rather improves the beverage.
It is afforded at 25 cents per pound. . Those
who try It will continue to buy it.
Caught Higgles tells a good story on
his boss, who is good sort of man, bnt a poor
judge of money. Not long ago Boss called
Higgles aside and told him that somehow a
bogus bill had been stuck oa him, and he
found it Impossible lo get it off. If Biggies
would pass It en some mean man, he might
have it Higglee thought it possible to find
such a customer, and took charge of the bo
gus bill.
This morning Boas approached Higgles
with a troubled countenance.

Resurrecting- a Humbug. A tele
graphic dispatch from Mew York, dated the
17th, states that a meeting was held on that
day ia the Produce Exchange, ia aid of the
Allautie Telegraph, It was addressed by
Cyras W. Field, aad others. About $8,000
were subscribed oa the occasion. The state
ment closes by saying "Mr. Field will address
the Board of Broken to-morrow," And we
will add that, shoeld the Board of Brokers
take the advioe of Mr. Cyras W. Field, U will

Huston Hall The entertainment of the
Kathleen O'Neit Troupe at Huston Hall last
night was well attended ; and, If we can judge
by the applause which greeted the performer
ces, the affair gave great satisfaction. . The
performers were frequently interrupted' by
hearty cheers. ' The wooden-shoe dance, aud
the pantomime as well as the cbaraoler
singing and dancing gave the greatest
amusement ' The programme will be entirely
changed this evening, and some remarkable
and side-splitting pieces introduced. . Of
coune the Hall will be filled. Those who at
tended last nignt can't well avoid goiug again
to-night, and witnessing the opening ol'snotb
er budget of fun. . , .

A Skirmish To day there was a pretty
sharp skirmish between the dt and a very
stnggting snow. For awhile the snow seemed
to have the best of it, but the dust remains in
possession of the field. At present the con
test is by bo means decided, and should the
snow change its base, and attack from its
water batteries, the dust would be served out
in short order. ' ! V '
In the Station. Then were twelve ind
vidnals in the Station last night six males
aad six femalea A portion of the dozen
were admitted to the place as lodgers, having
no other when to lay their beads; but the
majority were put into the lock-up on charge
of committing misdemeaoers. A House of
Refuge and Correction is needed here more
than a pair of Steam Fin Engines,
Hew Stock. James Bracelin the "Big
Ingin" of the Ragin' Tads of other years
has just been getting a new stock of attrac
tive Hardware every thing in the line that
any ene can call for. Every thing for build
ing purposes, and spring operations. Call at
11C Third street.
The Fire The alarm of fin, about which
ws made a note yesterday afternoon just as
our forms were being pnpared for the press,
was caused by the Dry-house at the Last and
Peg Factory, on the Canal, taking fire. The
flames wen extinguished without the aid of
the engines. The damage we learn was not
very considerable.
