f J L. S. Bp eebtr. TiW w rmMUh . nf X- & j3eeA- r ... r, ofSandusky city, written previous to our late railroad vote. to Mr. Whicher, of Ha- mer'a Corners. 1 As the writer expresses a wish that it be passed round, that all may be benefitted by its perusal, we trust that he will not laka umbrage at the manner in which it is made public. : It is little singular that the citixens of Hn iner's Corners should vote nearlj unanimously aaainst their ote interests, after having them o c'enrty set forth by heirrto. whose nu bia heart S3 yearns for their wulure. lurue railroa d to f.-m a junction at that place, was no inconsijerabla inducement to its citi- lens to go ajjuinst our vote. but their faith in Mr. Bsecher's promises was somewhat sua- kn by a former demonstration of his to raind other peoples' basines. They probably re collected whew he attempted U violate tit laws of the State, by refusing to pay toll on the Western Reserve and Maumee road, and tore down the gates.. The gentlemen at that time was indited for his conduct, and only es- eseaped the penalty of the law by an inform ality in" the proceedings. But to the letter: Sandusky City, April 5, 1851. Mr Whichbb, Dr. Sir, , I learn by letters from the west part f your county, that a strong effort will be made to defeat your vote for a subscription to the isor walk Road, on Monday next. I have also seen a hand bill and herewith enclose you a copy, said to be In circulation among the farmers of your county, We of course, desire,", as you know, the defeat of this vote, not only for our own good, but as we believe, for yours, and that of the oublkj cenerallv. , The fate of the vole I think depends upon your township, and I also think, that yon are more deeply in terested in defeating than sustaining the vote. If the Mad River Road should be constructed through your place, your interests and ours -would be identical. - Messrs. Henshaw and other Stockholders from Boston, are row here to decide upon the "new location, their decis ion probably will be made the coming week, nd although or people have not the power alone, to make this decision, yet nodoubt their views and wishes willexercise strong influence in making that decision, this is now in favor of your place. But what I most fear in relation to your interest K that if the people ?? your place, by casting their votes and influence for the Norwalk Road, go against our interest, a chang may take and our influence bronirht to bear strongly against your interest. , I have consulted leading men here upon that point, sad they tell me onr influence is pledged ta your behalf if you reciprocate. Thus you will see, that you stand in a crisis, f hope yow will act wisely tor yourselves and tor us. . , Please show this and consult with Mr. Homer and tiers, in year place, in wltom - - e v - you have confidence. ,. Very trolyyours, ; ;' l. & beecheb P, S. The Mad River Road intends to form a part not mly of lht Junction Roaabu aliuk in the great Southwestern Railroad from Sandusky city to St. Lost, via. Defiance and Lay fayelte. Hence if yon join with our ene TOyt she wilt be likely to lorate her Road some three or four roili-s furtlier west than your place which will be more in tlx direction to wards De&mtoe wad also .Toledo. If located at your place it will make the point of junction of three important Rail Raoda, which cannot f til to build up a large town there . L. S. B. . . Kail Road aieetiB?. ,. At a meeting of the citixens of Fremont, bi-lil wi the 21s . day of April, 1651, fur the pupose f takmg into consideration the pro priety (af constructing a Rail Road from Fre mont by the. way of Tiffin City to Bucyrus, thence to the nearest point on the Cleveland k Columbus Rail Road. Now, what is true of plants, is especially true of girls. Take a Miss from the city in August, and give her the run of the hills and clover fields, and in less than s month she wilt he as rompy as a fawn.
