Eastman's Pulmonary Eulsain, fur disea see of the Lungs and Breast. It is a melancholy fact that Consumption cotifli'iitos a large portion of our bills of mor tality, and forms one of the most crowded av enues to ihe tomb. The principal cause of the mortality of Uiis formid ihle disease niav he nttnbule.1 to the peculiar character of its pri niary symptoms. In its first stages, tin' pa tient is seldom awaie of the ntn rm i a disease that is fastening upon him; conspqneiuly tin remedial aid is wuight until it is too late. It? premonitory symptoms appear t.riflirg, hence they arc disregan e l until in their more tullde velopement the victim is alarmed, and strng- ;les in vain to elude the fitnl irrasp. The first symptoms that should be tuken ns a warning are Ihe following; v z: A short dry cough without much expectora tion, except a frothy mucus; nn uneasiness about the chest, or a seiu-e of pain when lying on the side:. a pain under the breast bone; res piinlion is oppressed by the least extra bodily exertion, and particularly in warm rooms, or in moist weather: menial excitement mid de jection, alternately; spitting of blood is also a warning symptom of approaching Consump tion. Colds lieqiie. tly engender this disease: iheal.'irmingsvmptom, in this case, is the con tinuation of the cough accompanied with some of the above symptoms; any of which may be observed perhaps for rnontliB before the patient will acknowledge that he is so ill as to require attention. When indeed this is the most cri tical period, and if relief is not soon found, the cough increases and is more troublesome and severe, particularly at night; the expectora tion more copious, ot a greenish color, some times tincred with blood: tho laborious breath ing and cmnci-ition continue to increase; the hectic flush is soon tceu in tho pale cheek ac companied, by night sweats, fac.; the closing SCOne IS TOO WBLL KNOWN, For this formidable disease the Pulmonary Balsam is prepared and offered to the nfnicled, in connection with my Elixir of Health and Embrocation, The llalsnm possesses the re quisite properties for healing nnd restoring the lungs to a healthful state, while the Elixir tends fo produce, invigorrite and muint iin a healthy action in the whole system, purifying the blood and preparing the system do that na ture, by the aid ot the IS ils an and LMnbroca tion, mav carry on nnd effect the healing pro cess. It is a well known fact that a wound, sore or ulcer cannot easily be healed or cured without keeping the system in good older and a healthful condition; hence the failure of nil cough medicine for tbe cure of the Consump tion cough, this cough being only a symptom of a diseased state of the lungs, can only be permanently removed as they are restored to a sound state. Jio one medicine can be relied upon in a diseased state of the lungs; -but the above medicines, viz. 11. Williams St Co.. , . , Gkwtiembn : Having sent you a quan tity of my EL1XER" OF HEALTH fqr sole, and presuming that its virtues are not, fully known in your section of country, I have deemed it proper to afford you the necessary information. This is a medicine of my own advising, nnder a belief that medicine can on ly by serviceable as it assists the efforts of na ture, whose efforts are always exerted to rid the system of whatever is injurious, and to mainiain a healthy' action in those organs which are the prime regulators of the whole svstem. and this she would always accomplish, except overpowered by some deleterious agent taken into the system. Its action is upon the Btomach, liver, and digestive organs generally; nnon the nroner state and action of which, a healthy condition of tho system mainly de pends. In its oporullon it removes an ousiruc trions. carries off all morbid bile, and other vi tiated matter, gives tone and energy to all the digestive powers, and enables eacn 10 periorm its proper office; hence it must be perceived that it is adapted to remove the great variety of diseases which proceed from a derangement of these organs. The following are some of the pymptr ms and diseases incident to these derninreincnts, und for which the elixer has proved most signally efficacious: Lossofnppe tile, debility, lassiU-de or sense of weariness, nausea, omiression trom toon, natiiieney, nciu stomach, cardialgy or heart burn, unpleasant taste in the moutli, pains m the nean, duck, side, shouldeis or limbs, sick head ache, cos- tivencss or the reverse, dejection, melancholy, disturbed sleep, cold hands and leet, billious ha bit, night sweats, pale sallow countenance, dys pepsia nnd lhei complaints, fac. It has pro ved most signally efficacious in raising the sys t, m from tho torpor and genernt prostrution which ucue and fever, and othor marsh fevers so frequently produce. For delicate fe males and children, it is iucompnrable. For conrrhs originated in the sympathy of the lungs, wilh a diseased stomach or liver, it been uiiilormly euicncious. Many persons supposed to have teen in a decline or consump tion, huve been restored by its use, restoring blo' iu to the p;ilo and sickly check, uud plump ness to the meagre. From the nature of its operation and effects. it was supposed it might prove a preventive of bil'ous and other fevers, and as such it hnsbeen extensively used in some of our most sickly sections with apparent success. Thousands of famili-s have adopted it as their family me dicine, and muny consider it a Punncea. They bi'lit ve wilh me, that by a timely and proper use of the Elixir, that healthful action of the system will be kept up, which will effectuilly repel ull those deleterious agents which cause teveis and many oilier diseases. Since visiting your pluce nnd becoming ne nuninled with the character o. its diseases, 1 am fully satisfied that my Elixor is admirably adapted to their case, and by a timely use to their prevention in some measure, and I shall be niui h disappointed not to hear of such re sults. Of any bad effects I entertain no fears, t is entirely botanical, nnd has been and may be taken in all ages and both sexes, in every condition with the hnppiest results, roriur- particulnrs and testimonials, see bill on the me dicine. Hoping that it may prove among you as great a blessing to the nfilictcd as it has in other places. 1 am, Gentlemen, yours truly, tl. EASTMAN. P. S. Sl'OHN, a German physician of much note, having devoted his atten tion for some years to the cure and removal of the causes of NERVOUS AND SICK HEADAi HE, has the satisfaction to mako known that l.e has a remedy which by remov ing the causes cures effectu illy ai d permanent ly this distressing complaint. There are many families who have eonsidere Sick Headache a constitutional incurable family complaint. Dr. S. assures them that they are mistaken, ndi laboring under distress which they might not only alleviate, but nciually eradicate by tbe use of this remedy. - . It is the result of scientific research, and m entirely of a different character from advertis ed patent medicines, and is not unpleasant t the taste. ' HEADACHE, SICK OR NERVOUS." r The extraordinary repututii n that Dr.! Spohn's remedy for this distressing complaint is every day gaiifing is certainly a matter of much astonishment. That so much suffering should have existed for ages without any dis covery of an effectual preventative or cure,. i truly a subject of much regret, but Dr. S. now assures the public that such a remedy hnsbeen invented as wiil convince the most creduloon. The principles upon which it acts are simple and plain. It is an admitted fact this com plaint, whether called Sick Headache, or Ner vous Headache arises pr'marily from the stom ach those who think they have the Nervous Headache may reiit assured that this organ, the stomach, is the first cause, that the system has been viti ited or debilitated, through the) stomach, and that only through the same chan nel must they expect a restoration of the na tural and hoalihy functions of the system. This object, Dr. Spohn's remedy is eminently calculated to attain. : The truth of this :posi' tion cannot bo controverted, and the sooner sufferers with the headache become convinced of it, the 'sooner will their sufferings end in restoration of health. , Dr. Spohn pledges hi professional reputation on this fact. The rem? edy may be had of apothecaries generally thro'i out the U. 8. -, , ., . . - ,,, r; -', COMSTOCK fa Co., wholesale druggist t Fletcher' streel,.near Maiden Lane, one door below Pearl street, N.
