tV On Wednesday last, a team became un
manageable while descending Louisiana Av
enue to the river with a load of staves, and
rai off, tearing the wagon to pieces and scat
tering the staves in every direction. On
Thursday morning another team started where
the one above menlioneil left off, and under
took to run up the hill, but were easily stop
ped. BuuoLAitr. On Tuesday night, some one of
the numerous gentry about Toledo visit d our
place for the purpose of replenishing his slock
of jewehy and change. He first went in'.o
Mr. McKnight's house, searched pantaloons,
found no money, and finally took a lady's
gold pin. He then called at Mrs. R ibison's,
but finding himself discovered, left, to call on
John Webb, Clerk of the Court. Horc he
found a gold watch belonging to Mrs. V.,
about $8 in esh, and a number of keyes, all
of which were appropriated. II. II. Dolge,
Esq., was next visited, at his room in the Ex
change. Thinking he heard hU do in the
room, and not knowing how he came there,
Mr. D. aroe and struck a liht, when the
unknown visitor pissed him, went through
the window onlothe pjrcli, and while Mr. D.
passed into the hall to meet him as he went
down stairs, he slid down it pent an I took to
his heels, carrying off a tine gold w.ttoh and
