I morbid swellings, and scrofulous diseases, &C. ' I According to Chemistry, and the physiolo. gy ofthe human system, a remedy has been 1 discovered, and is now applied and rendered successful, in removing painfnl swellings, pain in the side and back, scrofulous. tumors, King's Evil, enlargement about the neck and ihroat. ague takes, enlargements of the spleen, etc. One thing should be borne in mind by every physician, that thi means here epoken of should be used in preference to ev. eryihing else, in case of gathering or painful swelling in the breasts of those who nursed Those who are in the habit of being troubled in this way, should use it before any symp toms of hardness are manifested. .No expo. suip to cold will have any effect on the parts where the application is worn. When the brensts are painful, there are no - means which can be used that will give so quick and certain relief as this. Those . who do not wish to suffer must btar the above in mind, and use the means here specified.' For it never fails in this disease, neither can it fail. The reader can readily see, if it. can soften and subdue each inflammations, of how much importance it would be to use in cases of weak backs, spinal lrntaliou, and in fact all kinds of weakness or inflammations As an external application in Liver Complaint, pain in the hips and shoulders, it has no equal ; and as a pain extractor, there is no magical drops or linaments that will compare with the Jew David's or Hebrew Plaster this is the remedy, and it is '.wo well known among phy siciansin general, to need any further descrip tion. HALSTED'S BRISK PILLS, 23 Pills for 23 cents. The Bris'i Pills an swer the purpose more effectually than any other pills in use, and supersede thim t.tgeth er in medical virtue and excellence. If you doubt this, just try them it will cost only 25 cents and then you too, will be satisfied. It thty are not what they are recommended to be, denounce them. They are not recommen ded to cure everything ; but I do say, with, out fear of contradiction, that no pills are their equal in removing diseases originating in the stomach and bowels. For liver af tections and bilious disrases, such as dumb ague, fever and ague, intermittent and remit, tant fever 8, the Brisk pills possess peculiar properties foa their speedy removal. From ten years' experience as a practising physi cian, I am convinced that none can equa them. Do not believe all thrt is said abou an infallible pill, that never fail to cure unv disease, but try the Brisk Tills the cheapest pi Ills iu use, and then you have a chance to judge of their merit or demerit- As a blood cleanser, and a purifier to the diseased sys tem, and a purifier to the diseased system, they perhaps fupercede every pill in use. They are quick . and easy in their operation, giving life life and tone to all the torpid or gans : throwiug off impure matters or hu mors, leaving the system clean and healthy. This is all that any medicine can do, not. withstanding the great show of words -and fictitious certificates. We are determined to let these pilis stand upon their owu reputa tion, win or lose. All we atk is an impartial trial. They can be taken by old and yonng, at any time with perfect safety, They are an excellent medicine for children having worms &c. In a woid, they possess ail the qual'ties of an aparient pill for all family use. They have cured - many diseases which no other medicine could remove. In conclusion, I say, do not despair of a curb until you have tried the Brisk Pills, for they do possess pe culiar properties and virtues. Wholesale and retail by J. O. FAY. &. Co-136 Fulton st. TEAL fc ALLEtf ' Corner Congress, and Washington St. f Ypsilanti, Dec. 20. 1843. . '. if . "From the Boston Chronicle, Jan, 10. 1 WE see by an advertisement in . another column that Messrs. Comstock & Co., the American agents for Oldridze's Balm 'of Colnmbia, have deputies to sell that artiole in Boston and elsewhere. We. know a ladv in the in this city whose hair was so nearly gone as to s.tpose entirely her phrenological develoyements, which, considering that they betokened a most amiable disposiiioa, was not, in reality, very unfortunate. Neverthe less she mou rned the loss of locks that she had worn, and, after a year's fruitless resort to miscalled rostoratives, purchased, some months ago a bottle of or two, of Oldridge's Balm, and she has now ringlets in rich profu sion, glossy, and of raven blackness. - We are not puffing none ofthe commodity has been ?ent us, and, indeed, and we do not waut any for we have now, through its virture. hair e- enough, and of a passible quality, of our own- VAUIXG FRAUD. ' . The Balm of Columbia has been imitated by a notorious counterfeiter. Let it never be purchased or used unless it have the name of L. S. Comstock, or the signature of Comstock & Co. on a splendid wrapper.
