THEY HATS NO U8B FOB THI 2TATI03AL : UNION COMPANY. To the Edit ir of Thx Advocatb. At the last regular matting of local aa sembly of the National Citlzsa'a Iadui trial Alliance, Topeka, the following waa adopted: Wnereas, The National Union Com pany has been recommended to ui for our patronage and support, and reaolu tlons have also been submitted denounc Ins: the same, we therefore deem it ad vlsable at this time to define the position of this Alliance In relation to the quea tiona Involved in the discussion. Whereas, All trusts and combinations which have been organized with a vie 4 to the monopolization of functions of production and distribution, are the le gitimate results of our system of legis lation upon the question of finance, which enables the money lender to con trol distribution of the medium by which debts must be paid, and Whereas, The income of the money lenders depends upon interest on their investments, they have controlled the supply so as to cripple the debtors and re tard payments, and stimulate the Increase of Interest bearing debt, in order to en hance their own gains; and ; Whereas, This system of debt cre ating has been continued until the en tire volume of money reported by the secretary of the treasury will not pay one year's interest, dividends, eta, upon the various forms of indebtedness, pub. lie, corporate and private, thus giving the creditor an absolute monopoly, under the law, of our debt paying medium, and Whereas, Under the pressure of this iaw created system of spoliation, the peo ple are forced to economize in their ex penditures, in order to save themselves as much aa possible, and Whereas, The people under our pres ent system of finance cannot avoid the payment of interest which attaches to ev eryartlole they purchase and Is discounted from the market price of all they sell, and Whereas, They can for a time, escape the profit they now pay the merchant, by patronizing monopoly, It would be strange Indeed If m ny did not take ad vantage of the offered reduction In the cost of living, and ., Whereas, Our present system of fi nance is responsible for, this untoward condition of affairs, therefore be it Resolved, That we regard the National Union Company and all other trusts and combines, to freeze out competition ana to monopolize business, as the legitimate result ol our false system of distributing money through banking corporations and Individual lenders, for the existence of which at this time the Republicans and Democrats are responsible. And further be It Resolved, That while we sympathize with the mercantile classes whose business- is placed in jeopardy by the Nation al Union company and other similar com binations, truth compels us to say, that if bankruptcy and ruin to legitimate bus iness should follow, It will come as the logical and inevitable consequence of that system of legislation in the interest of money and against pioductive labor, which has received the endorsement, the votes and the influence of a vast majority of the business classes of the country. Resolved further, That we denounce our present debt creating and usury ex acting system of finance, which enables wealthy syndicates to confiscate the profits which under an equitable mone tary system, would go to legitimate bus iness, in order to perpetuate interest oa monopolUtic investments. Resolved further, That we cordially in Tlte all of the useful classes of society, productive distributive and professional to unite with us ia a grand strike at the ballot box against the old party machines and their pet schemes of individual and corporate control over the distribution of money, which is responsible for the ex Istence of the National Union company, and every other combination which pro poses to monopolize the functions of pro ductionand distribution, and by that means be In a position to confiscate the profits on business men more effectually than labor has already been deprived of the just reward for the wealth which it creates, Resolved, That we commend the re form press for its opposition to the Na tional Union.
