Illumination. On Friday Dightlast,
bright bonfire in tlt centre of the
Public Square sent an effulgent lijjlu
throughout the Tillage, and seven
buildings were illuminated, in honor of
the election of Abraham Lincoln to
the Presidency. 'Two or three briei
Jr speeches were made, and everything
passed off in the most lively manner.
One of the best things of the occasion
was a abort Union speech by W. N.
Allen, Esq., a Breckinridge Democrat,
in which the speaker paid a handsome
compliment to the new President.
Ltcxcm. We are authorized to an-
noance, that there will be a meeting at

por'iou of the long winter evenings

profitably by those who may attend its
meetings.
- . We hope the meeting will be largely
-attended, both by ladies and gentlemen.
-Gentlemen, bring the ladies. Ladies,
if the gentlemen have not sufficient
.galantry to call for you, show your in
dependence by coming without them.
