A meeting of the Jefferson County
Agricultural Society will be held in
Oskaloosa, on Monday, May 2J, at 10
o'clock a. m., at the Clerk's office. A

Pursuant to notice the citizens of the
I9th RpreseniatiTe District met at the
Clerk's Office, in Oakaloosa, on Snlur-
I day, April 16th, and organized by elecl-
Ig C B. McClellan. President and J.
W. Roberts, Secretary. The President
j-l stated that the object of the meeting
was to select a delegate to represent
the Distiict ia the State Convention
which is to meet al, Topcla on the 21st
inst., to elect delegates to represent the
Slate at the National Convention to
nominate a President.
On motion of II. Gibbs it was voted
x 10 enct a ueiegaie oy uaiiot. J W.
Hobert6 and -. K. Duttou were put in
nomination. Fiist ballott 38 votes cast
and a lie. Second ballot 55 votes cast,
J.W. Roberts 31, M. II. Dutlon 24.
Roberts declared elected.
On motion the delegate was instruct
ed to vote for delegates favorable to the
numiua'iou of Abraham Lincoln for le-
eloclion as President. '

Died In Oskaloosa, Kansas, April
13th, 1864, of spinal affection, Rudolph
Britts, youngest son of Preston and
Elizabeth R. Wise, aged two years, one
month and 19 days.

justice having arisen to good loyal citi
titlzcn from one citizen complainin" of
another by reporting1 him to the military
or civil authoiiiies as disloyal, without
any other giounds than to gratify per
ioual spleen or to accomplish other
ends. Ii is ordered, Thai hereafter it
shall be deemed a military offense for
any citizen to complain either to a mili
tary or civil authority of the disloyality
of any parly without they can produce
probable proof of the same', and it shall
in like manner be considered a military
offense for any citizen to ploclaim. by
speech or in writing, any other citizen
as disloyal, without being able (o pro
duce the like proof. It is on the odier
hand, enjoined upon all good citizens to
bring to speedy justice all disloyal per
sons oy reporting uieil acts andexpreS'
sions to the proper authorities.
