Antelope Valley. A fine shower Tuesday night made vegetation brighten up and gave it a new lease on life. The Truth Seekers class of the Sunday School have decided to spend the Fourth at Pile's grove. They haye invited the Sunday School and as many others as will come. A good time and refresh ments are assured to all. Good shade for you and your horses. E. M. Hynes lost a cow last week. Death is supposed to have resulted from poisoning. C. H. Ellis is again on the sick list. Dr. Harrison, the old family physician, was called and he pro nounced the trouble inflamation of the stomach. He will not be able to be out for a week yet. Mr. and Mrs. Welmer, who have been visiting at Wm. Arbuthnot's left Wednesday for Idaho in their Overland touring car. They ex pect to go by way of Garden City, Pueblo and Denver. Mr. Pile's mother of Wood ward, Oklahoma is visiting at the Pile ranch. Leslie Holland has gone to Ford county to take charge of a thresh ing outfit. He reports fair wheat there and harvesting about half finished. Its your gain to buy town lots now. Ellsaesser & Henry's office are town lot headquarters. Centervalley We have been having some very hot weather the past week. J. 0. Hanner delivered hogs at the Liberal markets last week. Ralph Lewis accompanied him. H. G. Clark and wife made a busi ness trip to Liberal one day last week. ' W. E. Mel v in was in Hugoton last Saturday. Zella Clark is on the sick list this week. Those in the neighborhood who were sick are still improving. R. M. Hess and family spent Sun day with Brooks Wright and wife southwest of Hugoton. Mrs. Hess and Mrs. Wright are sisters. Ethel Hanner and her sister Luclle visited over night at II. G. piark's one night last week. Lena Hanner visited with her sis ter, Mrs. DeCamp, nearly all of last week. 11 J. F. Hanner, wife and daughter Lucile visited in Liberal last Friday and Saturday, guests of T. J. Smith and family. Delia Clark called at Lon DeCamp's one day last week. Carl Rlttenoure was trading in Lib eral last Saturday. Mrs. Zimmerman is staying with Mra Hargadlne while their husbands are away harvesting. J. E. Brlghtup'was trading in Ty rone the first of the week. Golda Kelson visited Sunday with Hattie Jones. W. O. Nelson and wife of Hugoton were at their farm Tuesday repairing the pump. Our scnool board are having the Centervalley school house plastered this week. Henry Peck from near Lafayette is doing the work-. The J. N. Hanner family have can ned quite a lot of cherries and are now canning plumbs. After a little while they will have a few peaches and quite a lot or spples. ' The crops are still growing nicely despite the severe drouth. Ira Hanner went to Kingsdown to harvest last week. We will put a neat gold sign on your window, and guarantee it for five years. Wilson, represent ative in the legislature, mayor of Tribune, president of the Commer cial club, and president of the Kansas-Colorado Boulevard, was once a lawyer, and was disbarred at Colby by Judge Charles W. Smith. Last week, at the ' same place, and by the same judge, he was reinstated. The only development in the jail case this week has been the filing of an amended petition by the plaintiff, O. T.Wood, which makes the contractors, L. II. Sutton and the Van Dorn Steel Co. parties to the injunction suit now pending. This hearing is set for next Mon day before Judge Thompson who is coming to hear the arguments on the .case. The price ranges from $30 to $70 per ton, with but little brush coming in. Charles Molter returned Wednesday night from a trip through the broom corn district of Illinois. He says there will be no brush there this year. This fact ought to make the price better this season. A large acreage of broomcorn is out now, and if we have a rain within the next three weeks, there will be a good crop. Much of the broom corn is now up and looking fairly well. However, all crops need rain. A feature of the celebration here next Tuesday will be a motor cycle race for which a prize of five dollars will be offered. The en tries may not ride machines with more than one cylinder. Several of the local automobile fiends have been bantering each other for a race, and it is possible that a motor car race will be added to the al ready big program.
