Coyote Items. 12 miles southeast. This part of the country was visited by a Bno rain, Tuesday, which was much appreciated by all, . Plum-picking and fishing have been enjoyed by several people around here lately, but some have stuck close to cultivating their crop, notwithstanding the dry condition of the soil. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Riley Walker, a girl, June 7th. Riley is all smiles, and wears a broad grin. Several around here attended the celebration at Liberal, and were much pleased in the way Liberal entertained the people. Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson. Mr. and Mrs, Landriths,Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ellis were Sunday evening callers at Riley Walker's. Miss Flora Ferguson Sundayed with Miss Elvira Meredith, and attended church and Sunday school at Bethel, Sunday. , Rev. Gibson preached a dis course, Sunday at Bethel that was commented on as being a fine sermon- and much appreciated. Every one that hears him seems to enjoy his preaching. He will be back again the 23rd. Ben Weins' father is here on a visit, but expects to leave soon for Medford, Kas. S. D. Sill and wife, also Rev. Gibson, took dinner Sunday with Carl Brown's near Irwin. Miss Flossie May "and Mrs. Minnie Hancock spent Friday afternoon with Mrs. Tillie Mere dith. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Meredith were callers at Mr. Ernest Hey non's, Saturday evening. Our lots in the new Henry Ad dition are among the best in the city. They are high, level, well located, and we are offering them at a very reasonable figure. Ellsaesser & Henry. ' . Blue Bell Gossip Ray Jones left Sunday for Fow ler to work with the thresher. Mr. and Mrs. Henay Ponting spent Sunday with their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ponting. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ilammon tree went down to visit Mr. Reed and family, southeast of Floris, Saturday, returning home Mon day. Mr. Reed's are friends from Arkansas. Messrs. W. A. Wright and Wil burn Risley left Monday for Fow ler to get work. Walter Risley left Sunday morning for Bloom where he ac cepted a position of section fore man. Miss Bessie Lofland has been working at Mrs. Joe Wood the past week. Miss Alpha Davis went to Liber al Monday to attend the last three weeks of Normal. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns, Misses Eunice Fincher and Wiida Dairs took dinner with Miss Rosa Hammontree, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Land and son made a trip to Hayne, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey of Liberal were in this vicinity Sunday. Floyd Davis left Thursday for Ford to join his brother Carl, where they have some work. Mr, and Mrs. W. A. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Davis and family, Miss Rosa Hammontree and Mr. Ray Jones spent Friday on the river fishing and hunting plums. They report a good time. Well, it rained! We had a bice shower Tuesday afternoon and it helped crops some and made us all feel better. Jesse Ponting, Alva and Will McCollough and Jack Land went fishing Friday. All brought home a nice mess of fish. Mr. and Mrs. J. Land, sr., made a trip to Beaver county, Tuesday. They report a fine rain in the Coyote vicinity. Mrs. W. P. Davis made a trip to Liberal, Monday. Preaching at the Blue Bell school house Sunday. Sunday School every Sunday morning. Everybody invited to attend. Albert and Ira Perry of Valley Center made a trip to Liberal, Tuesday. Claude and Harry Davis and Elija Wright spent Tuesday on the riyer. For the man whose income is small we have lots in the Henry Addition at a very reasonable figure. They are positively the cheapest lots in town. Call us and see about this. Ellsaesser & Henry. Independence Gossip. 101 miles southeast of Liberal. This vicinity has been blessed by the fine rains the past week. A number of people from this neighborhood spent the Fourth in Liberal, while some celebrated in the harvest field. Miss Effie Billups spent Sunday at the Casidy home. There will be an ice cream so cial at Independence Church, 1 mile south and 4 mile east of Lorena, Friday night, July 14. Everyone is cordially invited to come. The Ladies' Aid Society will meet with Mrs. A. Nix this week. Mr. and Mrs. Cummings expect to leave this week for Goltrea, Okla. We are sorry to see them leave, but our best wishes go with them. Mr. McLaughlin and family left the first of the weok for Wichita, Kansas. They will be gone a year for the purpose of treating Mrs. McLaughlin's eyes. A number from this vicinity at tended the preaching services at Union Sunday. Mrs. McNew and little Authela Stone are numbered with the sick this week. Ellsaessor & Henry. Ervin Clippings 4 miles east of Lorena, Okla. A very good rain fell in this vicinity Tuesday afternoon. The farmers all wear a smile and are planting fresh crops. This mois ture will almost insure the row crops that are already up. Mrs. Jim Smith and family speni Sunday at Tom Snyder's. Mr. McLaughlcn and family and Faye and Marie McWethy spent Sunday at the A. Burch home. G. W. Brown and wife, W. M. McWethy and family and Willie and W. B, Abram9 and wife spent Sunday afternoon at the Midway farm. Grandpa McWethy returned the 8th inst., to Beaver County. He reports crops pretty damaged about Guthrie and other points east of there. J. M. Austin was a caller in this neighborhood last week. Mr. Austin has been on the sick list for a while. Miss Annie Davis called at Mr. A. Burets and W. M. McWethy's Wednesday. T. D. Ervin and Ed Gray are drilling at the XI ranch. R. M. Cullins and boys, and A. Burch and boy tried fishing on the Cimarron river last week but did not report very good luck. Sunday School at 10 o'clock sharp. Preaching at 11 o'clock by Bro. Gidley from Gate, Okla. Since the recent rains T. D. Er vin and G. A. Stewart started their plow engine on the school section, . preparatory to planting wheat. Still the people go to the sand hills for plums and grapes which are still green, excepting a few early vines and brushes which have been stripped. Will Mr. Wartenbee please tell us how to prepare the strychnine and salt for use on the melons to prevent the rabbits from eating them. They are a great pest in this neighborhood. Pleasant Valley. Ray Guttridge is plowing his maize and kaffir corn this week. Charley W eir came back last Saturday from the harvest fields. Mr. Wimmer and son were at the county seat last Saturday. VN. Renner was trading at the county seat last Saturday. T. H. Taylor is cultivating his castor beans this week. Charley Fawcett and Mr, Reed were in Liberal last Saturday. Willis Jones was in town last Saturday on business. John W. Freeman was in ' Lib last week on business. C. M. Barker and Sol Burr were in town last Saturday. Ridenour was a business visitor in Liberal last week. Little Katherine Wilson of Mos cow is visiting with Mrs. E. Frye this week. John and Leonard Day were trading at the county seat last Fri day. Ralph Bailey is working for Mr. Swink near Fargo at the present writing. The Misses Audry and Adzel Hoyt visited Mrs. E. Schweitzer last Sunday. Now the time has come when we are goipg to see if the people1 of the country adjacent to Liberal are hot willing to use home made goods if assured that they are getting an article as good as is shipped in.
