OFFICE OF BOARD OF SUPERVISORS YAViAPAI COUNTY, ARIZONA. Prcscott, Arizona, March 4, 1918. Board of Supervisors of Yavapai County met pursuant to adjournment on Monday, March 4, 1918, at 10:00 o'clock, a. m. Present. William Stephens, Chairman, C. C. Stukcy, Member, J. A. Jaeger, Member, R. T. Belcher, Clerk. Minutes of meetings of February 4th, 5th, 8th, and 18th, 1918, were read and upon motion same were approved. Mr. C. V. Pardee appeared before the Board and asked that the county road now crossing the northern part of the NWJ4 of section 29, township 14 X, range 2 W, be changed to the north side of the railroad track, stating that he had purchased this tract of land and desired to utilize the portion ncjw occupied by the county road. Mr. V. A. Drake, on behalf of the S. F. P. & P. Ry.'Co., and Mr. G. E. Mcany, on behalf of the Commercial Trust & Savings Bank, owners of the property on the north side of s'aid railroad track stated that they would be willing to grant the county the necessary right of way for the new county road. Mr. Pardee offered to make the change in this road for the sum of $200.00 and he was instructed to proceed with this work upon the filing of a contract and bond covering the proposed road construction. Mr. B. M. Atwood, State Engineer, and Mr. F. R. Goodman, Division Engineer, met with the Board of Supervisors, and the matter of the ap plication of Yavapai County's portion of the State Road Fund was discussed at length. The State Engineer advised the Board, that, after deducting cer tain amounts foT maintenance purpose, there would remain approximately $65,000.00 in Yavapai County's portion of the State Road Fund. He further stated that this amount was sufficient to complete the State Highway be tween Dewey and Cherry on the Dewey-Camp Verde road. Mr. Stephens stated that it was his opinion that this particular piece of road should be completed before any new construction work was undertaken. Mr. F. S. Vielc, President of the Chamber of Commerce, stated to the Board that he considered that the immediate construction of the proposed direct route road between Prcscott and Jerome of the utmost importance to Yavapai County at the present time, and asked that the Board order the commence ment of the work on the said direct route road between Prcscott and Je rome, expending the money now available from the State Road Fund for this purpose. Mr. Stephens and the State Engineer stated that, inasmuch as the amount of money available from the State Road fund would not be suf ficient to construct more than a small portion of the proposed road between Prcscott and Jerome, and as the highway between Dewey and Cherry could be completed, as already planned, they considered that the construction of the proposed direct route road between Pdescott and Jerome, should be post poned until after the completion of the highway between Dewey and Cherry. The resolution and order of the Board of Supervisors passed on October 17, 1917, directing the State Engineer to expend Yavapai County's portion oi the State Road Fund in the construction of the proposed road between Prcs cott anil Jerome, was read, and Mr. Jaeger stated this his position in regard to the application of Yavapai County's portion of the State Road Fund was reflected in said order. Mr. Stephens stated that he felt that this order slmiild bo amended, and. in order to open the question, he moved that the State Engineer be instructed to proceed to complete the highway between Dewey and Cherry, as already planned, and lurtncr to nave a survey maac of the proposed "direct route road between Prescott and Jerome and to furnish the Board of Supervisors with plans and specifications of same; also t r- ti.n .i-.llnfr Anrili'O prepare ana lurnisu pians ami spetun-auuus ui nit ihu iusiu u..u(i- received for the car ending April ' ' , . r.,, Ti,. roii Iw.:nrr .-,ir,i Mr C.,!,rs' 1st.
