Wednesday night of i last week they reached TeeoripaJ where The Oasis editor had met them the preceding Saturday night j as he was coming in from a. trip j beyond the Yaqu river. Thurs-) day morning they left Tecoripa fori Cobache, intending to remain there over night, following the same route they traveled going out. The party occupied two carriages, Mc Kenzie, Coy and Miller being in the first with a driver, and the other three in the rear vehicle. When aboli t ten miles southeast from Cobache, about five o'clock in the afternoon, a murderous volley was poured into the carriages from among the brush upon a slight rise of ground about 100 yards away, and to their "left. They estimate that there were at least sixty shots tired at the first volley, the driver of the second stage falling dead from his seat. The six men and the other driver deserted their car riages, Miller calling to them to run for their lives. Coy, Call and; McKenzie stopped to make a fight and were killed; Steubenger tookj refuge behind a tree and was killed there. The teams had run a way j but stopped about five hundred j vards down the road. Seeing this J Tolerton left the brush through which he was running, entered one of the carriages and drove away toward Cobache. After going about a league he took one of the horses out of the team and rode the rest of the distance. Some time after his arrival there, Miller and the surviving driver came into the town, the former suffering from a slight wound in the fleshy part of the thigh. A party was quickly organized and proceeded to the scene of the massacre and brought in the bodies of the five men killed. v.- W rr K J,. ,'r B li ' ,i r - - 1 s 1 . i Ifredpenjafiiin r?flKp.mamin Correct Clothes for Mai ' SOLD BY CARPENA S CO.
