Roan tree and daugh ter of La Colorado, were visitors at Ilermosillo last week, returning home Saturday morning. ' Monday the Hotel Almada at Guaymas set up a Christmas din ner that ''just took the rag off from the bush." Chef John Wade cooked it, of course. The floods along the lower Yaqui on the 24th and 30th of November completely ruined the town of Potam, the one of the later date sweeping away every structure left standing by the first visitation. Mr. John Miller, superintendent for the Wyman Mining Company, was in from San Javier last week, on business at La Colorado, Guay mas and Ilermosillo. Monday the gentleman started on his return home. Work on the pipe line of the Llanos de Oro Placer Mining Com pany, between the Magdalena river, at Los Trincheras, and Boludo, is being pushed night and day, three large gangs working eight-hour shifts. Mr. and Mrs. George Beebe, of the Cieneguita Copper Co., and Mrs. Beebe's sister, Mrs. Irvine of H ;n Francisco, were at Ilermosillo, La Colorado and Guaymas. Sat urday evening they started on their return to New York. In Boston, Massachusetts, on the twenty-ninth of October, Mr. Frank Kitz, assistant general man ager fr the Cieneguita Company, and Miss Helena Richardson were united in matrimony, and the newly wedded pair have returned to the scene of the company's oper ations in the Sahuaripa district, where the bride and her sister visited some months in 1008-4, forming then the friendrhip which lias now ripened in the closer and happier relation now contracted. Saturday last Mr. E. A. McFar land, chief engineer of the Cananea, Yaqui River & Pacific railway, and Mr. Coleman, grading contractor, started for Alamos to look over the region in that direction, one of the objective points of present con gtruction being the city named. Tracklaying has been suspended for want of rails, but a large sup ply has been received recently, and work has been resumed. The force can lay easily two kilometres of track daily, and from this time forward the work will progress rapidly. The sixty kilometres remaining to be laid to the cross ing of the Yaqui river will be com pleted by February 1st. To reach La Dura is promised by June 1st. 0 MAGDALENA NOTES Magdalena, who went to San Francisco in the latter part of October, are expected to return home early in January. P. Sandoval. h. Strickland was busily engaged putting in a new double muflle furnace, needed in his rap idly increasing assay business. Mr, John Earl, many years ago a resident of Florence. Arizona, was at Magdalena this week. Since leaving Arizona Mr. Earl has been all over Mexico and Central America. The Black Mountain Mining Company is experiencing great difficulty in getting freight taken out to the Cerro Prieto camp. More than one thousand tons are now accumulated at Magdalena. Tener Brothers & Politzer of Magdalena, who have a branch store at Llanos de Oro, have estab lished another branch at Trin cheras, the pumping station of the pipe line for the Llanos de Oro' Company. j i The Trinity Mining Company,' which bought from M. Latz & Brother the Jojuba mine, about three leagues west from Magda lena, U reported to be shipping tine gold bullion. A cyanide want is to be added to the mill, to save' the values the plates fail to catch; Mr. John Burns has returned to j Magdalena from a trip of forty days ) in the mountains off toward Cana-j nea. He brought with him some fine samples of gold ore that came from a ledge he found near Santa Catalina mountain. The ledge is six feet wide and carries free gold. Monday next (New Year's day) there will be a matched game of base ball between the town nine and the power house nine. Con stant practicing is developing good points in both teams, and a close and exciting game is anticipated. The gate receipts are to go to the benefit of the construction fund of the new public school building. The great smokestacks for the power house of the Black Moun tain Mining Company at Magda lena, which were thrown down by a high wind about a month ago, are now nearly completed and anchored. At the time of the mis hap they had been completed and one anchor cable run and fastened.
