This has been demonstrated al ready in places where development has been carried to points not many feet within the outer shell of oxidized manganese-iron, where there are encountered copper sulphides, running from four to twenty per cent in the red metal; and picked assays showing better. Almost anywhere in the great formation described there may be found values in both copper and silver, with traces of gold; and work already accomplished de monstrates conclusively that with depth all those metals, will be found in paying quantities and immense masses. The DEPTH AND PEIIMANENCE Of these great deposits is evi denced by a great casing of rhyo lite along each side, which crops out on the west where it is cut bv the caflon; and on the east it is cut by the northernmost tunnel, near v two miles awav. while traces thereof are found in many places long each side. Intrusions, like 're of igneous rocks, whether iiiuli?e, trachyte or diorite, 6c-j ccrrii u alongside of ore deposits, re - -ry wnere consmereu unerring indications ofdepth and permanence in t i.e. it liges or deposits they act-on. pa i y. Igneo it s intrusions eo;..e i om great depths, and are coi.tin .ous and unbroken. Oie occurrences alongside or between are bound to be likewise; and when penetrated below the zone of ac tion of percolating surface waters, are permanent and uniform in value. The nearly uniform con ditions of values remaining in the oxidized portions of these great de posits may be assumed safely as unerring indication that the ore bodies to be reached by a well planned and scientific exploitation, will be of such magnitude and ex tent as to insure their profitable operation upon a very extensive scale through a practically interm inable period. Ore occurrences so immense, under conditions so favorable as have been developed through the operation through cen turies of the liio Tin to urines in Spain, and other great copper producing regions, are not to be exhausted in a single generation; but their exploitation remain great and PRO EITA IU.E EXT Eli PIUSES Through centuries. In Saxony there are copper mines which have been worked profitably more than one thousand years, and are still in operation with no probability of exhaustion yet in sight. The great copper mines in the Lake Superior region, which are operated to a dept h of more than a mile, bringing to the surface and there profitably working two and; thfe per cent ores, are the bestj kind of evidence cf the depth and Wli.lt H tlit' "luck-dtiiio" (tf your H'fthe;irt?
