Iii the column of political an nouncements in The Oasis, Mr. U. 1). tieorge this week inform the electors of Santa Cruz county that he ii a candidate for the important post of treasurer of Santa Cruz county, subject to the will of the republican county convention. Mr. George is widely known as one of the most accomplished ac countants in the southwest, and one of the most capable business men in Arizona. He is now the secretary of the Nogales Building & Loan Association, having held that post, or acting as secretary, ever since the organization of the corporation in 1894, and much of the success of the institution has been due the efforts of Mr. George. The gentleman has held also, sev eral years, the post of superin tendent of the Nogales Water Company, wherein lie has shown first-class business ability. Many more posts of importance that the gentleman has held may be enum erated, but they shall not be men tioned all at one time. His nomi nation would strengthen the ticket, and his election would give the county a splendid ollicial. Will They Organize? Sarah Lopez, the four-year-old daughter of a prominent family in Nogales, Sonora, was the victim of an accident last Sunday that resulted in the loss of one of her eyes. The child fell on a small chair on which there was a glass. The glass was hroken and a piece of it pierced the eyelid, cutting the eyeball.
