Cumming and Mr. Harry A. Smith, of the U. S. customs service, went to Phoenix as witnesses in the opium smug gling case of which an account is given in another column. Ryall of New York, a director in the Pa cific Smelting & Refining Company, who had been at Guaymas on business and was returning home. Mr. B. M. Ashby, who had been in the Mira Monte Sanitarium, has returned to her home on Crawford street, greatly improved in health and she weighs seventeen pounds siore than before taking the treat ment. Tuesday night there was at No bles, returning to his home in Long Beach, California, Mr. G. A. Lounsbury, formerly of Nogales, had been at San Geronimo aiine, out from Poza station, about ne hundred miles south from Nogales. Wednesday morning the gentleman continued his jouiney. business, Mr. H. Lawton, general passenger agent for the Southern Pacific of Mexico, where he had been on business. The gentleman remained over night at Nogales, and Sunday went to Guaymas. Friday evening of last week Mr. W. S. McCurdy opened his new billiard hall in the Pizskorski build ing, on Morley avenue, next to the Lyric theatre. He has five new billiard and pool tables, direct from the factory, and all the ap pointments are new and first class. Mr. McCurdy will make of the new hall a popular and pleasant place of resort. Saturday last Superior Judge Frank J. Duffy made a court order to draw a grand jury returnable May 6th, and a trial jury May 9th. On Tuesday of, the present week the jury commission, consisting of Phil Herold, recorder, W. S. Mc Knight, sheriff, and Edward L. Mix, clerk of the superior court, met in the office of the latter, and drew the juries, issuing the neces sary venires, which the sheriff and his deputies are now serving. Last Saturday evening Mr. Al bert J. Abbot, forester in the Coro nado forest, whose headquarters are about three miles below No gales, on the Calabasas read, re turned from Phoenix wjiere he had been in attendance on the trial of Miguel Cruz, who was arrested and held to the United States grand jury some two or three weeks ago on a charge of removing illegally from the forest a quantity of wood. The defendant was in dicted and plead guilty, receiving a jail sentence of twenty days, in addition to the time he had been incarcerated since his arrest. W. PURDY, Physicians in charge. Mr. W. b Layer, president of the Sonora News Company, arrived from the City of Mexico early in the week, and visited here several days. Mr. Ferd Van Mourrick, manager of the Nogales store, went to Tucson Tuesday to meet Mr. Layer, and returned to the line city with the gentleman at evening of the same day. Next week Troop M of the Fourth United States cavalry, which has been stationed at Nogales some weeks, will return to Fort Hua chuca for target practice, as will Troop K which is stationed in the San Rafael valley. They will be replaced by Troops Gand II, which are at the post now engaged in target practice. Mrs. Elmer Linds ley, wife of the captain of Troop M, and her daughter, who had been visiting Nogales, went to Huachuca Monday. Sunday Mr. H. A. Campbell, the well known railroad conductor, whose remarkable cure at the Mira Monte Sanitarium was noted week or so ago, departed for his former home in Wartrace, Alabama..
