TO FISHERMAN Arm Blown Off With Dyna mite. Will Probably Recover. Special to The Daily Record.' Friendship, Oct. 30.—A serious accident happened here this morn ing when Cape Garrett, who was fishing on the Ouachita River, near here, got his entire right arm blown off by dynamite. He received se vere injury to both eyes, bur at this writing is getting along fairly well. He went out early in the morning, and the accident happened at 6 o’clock. He was brought here and given medical aid at once. Caraway Speaks for I. R. Amendment Monticello, Oct 30.—Congressman T. H. Caraway spoke here Sunday before the W. C. T. U. Convention in behalf of Amendment No. 13, the I. & R. Amendment to be voted on at 11 le November election. Mr. Cara j way stated that the argument that the amendment would give the cities and towns the right to vote in i saloons in defiance of the present ' Prohibition laws, “Had not a leg to ; to stand on in law or common sense." : He expressed himself as highly in ! favor of the amendment, and stated that he expected to vote and work for its adoption, and referred to it as ; the best amendment for the I. and I R. he had ever read. C. S. Stanley and wife, of Fordyee arrived in the city Saturday, and are spending a few days at the Malvern hotel. Mr. Stanley is representing the Detroit Scales Co., of Memphis. Mrs. Stanley is a former Malvern resident, being a sister of Mesdames Dr McCray and W. W. Beaty. She is receiving a hearty welcome from her many friends. Diakos ^ Riley Co. Next week in Malvern will be om of much interest to her citizens, anc one th^t will no doubt do much foi the town, and be greatly enjoyed bj t all. Three gala days are being ar ranged by the Malvern Boostei Club, under the auspices of the Mai ; vern Chamber of Commerce. Nexi I Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ’ November 9th, 10th and 11th havt l>een set aside, and will be three days full of entertainment and en ; joyment. Wednesday will be good Roads Day; Thursday, Educational Day, and Friday, will be Agricultu ral Day. In the evenings the Rad cliff Chautauqua will be the attrac tions, which will be held under a large tent, and they will have with them some of the most famous lec turers, and musicians in the coun try. The morning entertainment will be free to the1 public, and speak ers of prominence will be here, and people from all parts of the county -vill be invited to come and take Tt :o the entertainment. The n ' W c Club is working hard to '.make a big success of the affair, and are meeting with much encourage ment. The program for the three days entertainment, which will be free, and will be held in the mornings, is as follows: Wednesday, .November 9; Good Roads Day, several of the most rep resentative men in the state, and good road boosters will be present and make addresses, in regard to (he gbod road movement. Hon. W. B. Owen, State Commissioner of High ways, has been invited and will no doubt attend, besides several others. Thursday, November 10; Educa tional Day: Hon. Cnas. H. Brough, Democratic nominee for Governor > f Arkansas, and one of the most prominent educators of the state, has been invited and is expected to be present. Hon. John H. Hineman of Little Rock is also on the pro gram, besides several others. •Friday, November 11.— Agricul tural Day: Prof. Lassater, of the University of Arkansas, who has charge of the agricultural work, and Hon. J. H. Page, Commissioner of Agriculture, will be on the program for this day, besides several others. The; committee on arrangements met | ■ last night, and outlined the routes i for the canvassers to make in solic iting homes for the delegates to the Convention. Great preparations are being made and the.committee will meet from time to time, and make all arrangements to give the vis- i itors the very best of entertainment while in our city. The committee will start out today, and the citizens j of the town will be asked to-furnish bed and breakfast for the delegates | who will be here. The following ! route has been arranged, and those who will do the soliciting: All territory north of the I. M. Railroad: W. A. Haley and Rev. J. T. Howell. East of Main street and north of Pine Bluff street, D. D. Glover and | Lewis Collie. East of Main street and south of Pine Bluff street, E.O. Kilpatrick and C. W. Dixon. Between Dyer and Main street, J. I G. Bull and F. W. Stevens. All west of Dyer street and south of Sullenberger and Walco, R. E. | Snow W. K. Smith. North of Sullenberger and west of ’ Dyer and Main streets, to I. M. rail road, R. P. Goodman and J. M. Cald well. as they will have with them some: i (-f the most famous lecturers and, musicians in the country; they will, I no doubt, be liberally patronized. | These entertainments will be held j each of the three evenings, and will I take place in a large tent. There wall be an admission charged to the Chatauqua entertainment and it'will be well worth taking part in, as all < are invited to come and help enjoy , the same. The committee also J states that it is their desire that the merchants of Malvern cooperate in making the affair a great success and a benefit to the town and com munity.
