There is now working on the building the largest force ot artisans ever working together on one building in Little Rock, but even with all these the building will hardly be ready for occupancy before the first of February. The upper floors are now in the hands of the paper hangers, decoraters and painters. It was hoped by the company which is rebuilding the Capital, to have it ready by the first of the year and when it was seen this was impossible, by the opening of the general assembly but this too is impractical and February 1, is now definitely set tied as the date for the opening. After the first of the year, K. P. Bacon, supervising engineer in charge of the construction of gov ernment buildings in this state, will move his headquarters from Pine Bluff to Little Rock. He will personally supervise the work on the post office annex here, the concrete work on the basement of which was started yesterday after noon. Supervisor Bacon is also looking after the work on the postoffice building at Pine Bluff. Starting at the bottonin the com posing room of the Gazette eigh teen years ago, William M. Moore worked his way upward, and ten years ago, when Fred W. Alsopp was made the business manager, he was elevated to foreman, a posi tion he held constantly ever since. He was elected county assessor at the recent election, and January i, iyog, severs his connection with the paper to open an office iu the county court house. At a meeting of the State Ath ltic Association yesterdayafternoon the rules were amended so the colleges may arrange their base ball schedules entirely independent of the high schools, which is consid ered by many to be a long step toward the upbuilding of the na tional game in the state colleges.
