DEATH CHAIR READY FOR NEGROISEAYER (By the A»socrated Presa) Little Rock, Dec. 29.—John Henry Price, negro, convicted of the mur der of F. C. Moody, dairy man at Helena, will be electrocuted Friday morning at sunrise unless Governor McRae intervenes and grants a stay. Warden Dempsey at "The Walls" announced the time of Price’s elec trocution. Price was employed by Moody and the killing is said to have resulted from a quarrel over wages. WARREN. IT SEEMS. WEARIEOBY OffICE (B* the Associated Presa) Marion, Ohio, Dec. 29.—President Harding in a Christmas greeting to Marion Miller, 77, the oldest employe of his newspaper, the Marion Star, said that experience has taught him that there is “even more happiness in some of the humbler pursuits than in assuming responsibility in high places.” SUES PEN BOARD ON SEED PAYMENT (By the Associated Preaa) Little Rock, Dec. 29.—William Brooks, local planter, late yesterday filed suit against the penitentiary commission for $17,464, alleged due on a cotton seed contract made with the former penitentiary commission in 1919. Mr. Brooks alleged in his complaint that the present commission refused to honor his claim for the alleged in debtedness although it had been ap proved by the former commission. ARKANSAS WlES HAVE GASLESS DAY (By the Associated Press) Little Rock, Dee. 29.—Mains of the Arkansas Natural Gas Company are broken near Hope, and Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Hot Springs, Arkadelphia and other cities in Arkansas will be without gas until 10 o’clock tonight, when it is believed repairs on the mains will be completed. The com pany supplies many Arkansas towns ' and cities north of Hope. I (By the Associated Pr^sl Texarkana, Dec. 29. Hloodhounds from Shreveport, used at the scene of the fire yesterday at Fouke, are responsible for the arrest and incar ceration of Walter Neale, a farmer at Fouke held here for arson. PERU TO CHILE (My the AjvnncTated Preu) Lima, Peru, Dec. 29.—Peru in a new note to Chile over thed ispute in regard to Tacna-Agra, suggests that President Harding of the United States be asked to act as arbitrator of all differences between the two 1 countries, no appeal from his decis- ' i<yi being allowed either claimant. Peru and Chile apparently are on the verge of war over Tacna-Aera, which may be allowed the privilege of a plebiscite to determine its affi liation with one of the two countries. CLEARSfSWiNDLER HELD AT MEMPHIS cBy the Associated Preaa) Memphis, Dec. 29.—J. L. Norton of Aberdeen, S. D., today exonerated Joseph Lynch, held in jail here, as a member of the gang which he claimed swindled him out of $5,000.! Lynch and another man are held here on charges of having swindled Ed Carter, a Virginia farmer, out of $28,000. ANGERED AT WIFE COMMITS MURDER (By the Associated Press) Purdue, Ind., Dec. 29.—Joseph F. Litchhart, 40, has confessed the mur der of his wife, Marguerite, last Sunday and the interment of her body underneath their home. Ac cording to officers who disinterred the corpse, the woman’s hands had been bound behind her back and her skull crushed. The only motive which could have prompted the hus band, the police said, was his anger over the late return of his wife, who was a trained nurse. Investigation disclosed that she came home late on Saturday night, before the confessed murder Sunday morning. The bank was closed and its obligations will be sus pended to await the outcome of court proceedings. I)R. SESSLER HOSS. Dr. Sessler Hoss of Muskogee, a son of the late Bishop E. E. Hoss and nephew of Mrs. P. H. Prince of this city, died early this morning from pneumonia, according to a wire received by Mrs. Prince today. Both Dr. Hoss and his late father were well known in Conway, and his death will be much regretted by his friends here.
