Harvesting is completed in this sec tion and threshing has begun. The decedent with her husband, settled on H farm in the wilderness about .Vi years ago, but after a feyv years her husband yvas laid to rest and she then went through the try ing ordeal of bringing up a large family of small children. But, being a woman not easily discouraged, she lived to see each of her children oc cupying a. comfortable home. For the past two years she bad been in failing health and, although she was growing weaker all the time, she never gave up courage, and was always in good spirits. She leaves a mother, one brother, and two sisters to mourn her untimely demise. The funeral took place Wednesday, Rev. Father O'Connell performing the last sad rites. Her remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Maple Grove cemetery. The Manitowoc base ball team known as the boiler makers, came here Sunday and “did up’ the local team. The game was the most interesting one played here this year. The score was •to!i in favor of the heavy weights. On Sunday Mrs John Sheridan. Miss Lizzie Fox Miss O’Neil, and Messrs, I’. L. < inhin and Joe (iuhin attended divine services at Clarks Mills and spent the afternoon visiting at the McCarthy home. Mr and Mrs. Harney Keelan of Anti go spent a few days here this week, visiting with Mr. and Mrs, O'Connor, and then left for West Holland to visit with Mrs. Keelan’s parents. Mr. and Mrs, John Rohan. Mrs. M Cay and little daughter of Chicago are here for a visit with Mrs. M. H. Connell, her sister. A young man from a neighboring town, who has been making frequent trips to this locality for the past few years, bought anew rubber tire buggy, hoping that his presence in the locality in which that young lady lives would not be detected. But on Sanday even ing. when making his tirst trip with the new rig. he was descried by the eagle eyed This goes to show tlie acute sense of hearing some people have. Several people in this locality are los ini' cattle. They become bloated from clover, of which there is an abundance this season. Mr frank Rank of Wayside, who helped to make Wayside the thriving little village it is iiecame weary of the many troubles and trials of a business life and disposed of his flour mill, saw mill, and two residence properties to Mr. Kouop, who formerly resided in Kellnersville, but who tor the past few years had Mr. Rank s Hour mill rented. The consideration is ino i, and the purchase is considered a bargain. Mr. Rank will dispose of his threshing out fit and leave for northern Wisconsin. Wagner, who has been home for the last month, has returned to Coopers town, where he is engaged as a carpenter. A number of Manitowoc people spent Sunday in our vicinity. Miss Cora Morris has returned to A1 goma, after spending her vacation with relatives here. Most of our teachers attended the institute in Manitowoc last week. On account of the non-arrival of a priest to fill the vacancy created hy the removal of Rev. Mullan, there was no mass celebrated at St. Isadora's church Sunday. Threshing is now in full blast and the yield is fairly good. Notes From Eastwin. Miss Amelia Jacquette is enjoying a week's vacation tit home. Mrs. William Siebeu and daughter Mamie of Chicago are visiting at the home of Mr. August Brier, a brother of the former. Mrs. James Holly and children of Zander and Misses Laura Zander and Linda Grosskopf of Milwaukee, who are visiting with the former, spent last Thursday and Friday with relatives here. The farmers in this vicinity are nearly through with harvesting and the whistle of the threshing machine can be heard at till hours. A crowd of Eastwin people surprised Mr. Frank Giermau of Manitowoc last Saturday evening on the 2Jrd anniversa ry of his birluday and a pleasant time was had by all. Notes From Liberty. Mr. Ed. Dunbar of Milwaukee spent a few days here last week. Parties from Two Rivers visited at the home of G. Leider last Sunday. They made the trip in an automobile. Threshing is now the order of the day. Generally speaking, tlie yield is good. Liberty is indeed "fair as the garden of the Lord." Ed. Fitzpatrick and wife of (Quarry visited with Mr. and Mrs. August Lufzke last Sunday. Miss Lottie Qeorgenson who taught in the Dunbar district last year, has secur ed a position in the Kiel schools. Wm. Burns of Meetue, who taught school in Columbia Cos. last year, has ! abandoned teaching and has accepted an agency for a N. Y. Life Insurance Cos. There will be a picnic in Johnson's grove at Niles next Sunday, Sept. li. The indications are that it will he a grand affair. The Misses Mae Brady. Alice Finch, Cornelia and Maggie Stephenson and Mr. John Finch attended the teachers’ institute at Manitowoc last week. A crowd of six gentlemen from Mani towoc was here last Sunday, driving around at a break neck speed, and they wouldn't even look at an ordinary individual.
