In this city the number of girls between the ages of 4 and 20 is 298 while tlie number of boys between those limits is but 257, show ing an excess of 41 girls. The census of Glenwood shows an excess of 10 girls, and Spring Valley the same; Trlmbelle reports one boy and two girls. If tlxis state of things pro gresses the legislature should be called in extraordinary session to pass some reform statutes to even things up. Railway Farm Lands For Sale. Word has been received here of the death of George Shafer by drowning in the Mississippi while clam hunting. George had grown up to manhood in our town and had many friends here who mourn his loss. Harry Wilson has bought the C. B. Musser farm. Mr. Morrow lost a fine horse last week. Julie Wadsworth visited in St. Paul several days last week. Mr. Gorham has sold his farm to Mr. Nelson of Warren. Mercury has rim up to io.| several days within the past week. Wed nesday it stood at 10S, and crops are damaged seriously by heat and bugs.
