There’s a Hill at Bowie, Tex., that’s twice as big as last year. This wonder is W. L. Hill, who from a weight of 90 pounds has grown to over 180. He says: “I suffered with a terrible cough, and doctors gave me up to die of consumption. I was reduced to 90 pounds, when I began taking Dr. King’s New Discovery for Consumption, Coughs and Colds. Now, after taking 12 bottles, I have more than doubled in weight and am completely cured.” Only sure Cough and Cold cure. Guaranteed by R. S. Freeman & Son, druggists. 50c and SI.OO. Trial bottle free. Gas From Cocoanuts. Gas from cocoanuts is the latest il* luminant. The coal of the Philippines has been found unsuitable for gas making purposes. The government, therefore, has been experimenting in the laboratories, and has found that a gas of great illuminating power may be produced by a very simple method from cocoanut oil. The oil is slowly fed into retorts which are already red hot. Here it volatilizes very rapidly, leaving a small residue of tar. Bulk for bulk, the oil has a much greater productiveness in gas than coal, and for this reason it is expected that, if the supply can be made to meet the demand, it will be greatly used all along the Pacific coast. A Miraculous Cure. The following statement by H. M. Adams and wife, Henrietta, Pa., will interest parents and others. “A miraculous cure has taken place in our home. Our child had eczema 5 years and was pronounced incurable, when we read about Electric Bitters, and concluded to try it. Before the second bottle was all taken we noticed a change for the better, and after taking 7 bottles he was com pletely cured. ’ It’s the up-to-date blood medicine and body building tonic. Guaranteed. 50c and SI.OO at R. S. Freeman & Son’s drug store. Time for Rejoicing. The editor of the Bacon Ridge Hea son came out on Main street and toss ed his hat twenty feet in the air. “Praise to Providence,” he whooped, dancing around like an Indian. “Are you crazy?” demanded the only policeman in town. “What do you mean by cheering when the cyclone has carried away your office?” “That’s just it, friend. “I have been complaining for twenty years because the circulation of my sheet was so lim ited, and now there’s a chance of it be ing circulated in four states and twen ty counties. Wouldn’t be surprised if one copy don’t blow clear to Europe.” Food Commissioner’s Report. The Minnesota Dairy and Food Commission’s analysis shows that Kennedy’s Laxative Honey and Tar and Bee’s Laxative Honey and Tar contained opiates and croton oil. In order to test a Chinese witness’ qualifications for taking the oath an English magistrate asked him the oth er day where he expected to go when he died. He replied, “Pekin,” and was disqualified. Once in another English court a little girl in answer to that question said, “I don’t know.” The horrified counsel called the judge’s attention to the answer. “Oh, I don’t know, either,” said the judge; "swear the witness.” Long Tennessee Fight. Such Railroading. “Such railroading,” said President Baer of the Reading line, apropos of reckless running, “reminds me of an Irish brakeman. “This brakeman, who was employed on a railway in the neighborhood of Cook, was annoyed one morning to find the train stopping in a desolate place miles away from any station. “He ran to the cab apd shouted to the engineer: “ ‘Hi, ye omadhoun, what are ye stoppin’ here fur?’ “The engineer retorted angrily: “ ‘Don’t you see the signal’s agin us, ye gossoon?’ “ ‘Musha,’ said the brakeman, ‘how mighty particular ye’re gettin'.’ ” Public Speaker interrupted.
