The Presidential Election Shall Southern
niggers Decide It J .
From the La Crosse Seinoora'.
During the year 1867 the Democracy
have carried the following Statei : Con
necticut, California, Kentucky, Dela
ware, Maryland, NewJersey, New York,
Ohio and Pennsylvania. We shall pro
bably carry all these States'in 18G8 for
the Democratio Prefli'len tial nominee,
with several (tains. With proper exer
tions and organization we can corry
Maine, New Hampshire, Indiana, Illi
nois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Oregon.
But assuming that we should succeed in
electing the Democratio electoral tickets
I ' .1- O . . . . I 111 1

we have the following number of elec-
teral votes. . ...

' ' In 18G-1 the total cumber of electoral
votes counted in the PrnsiJeotial elec-
. tion was 221 of these 119 constitutes a
. majority of seven I From this it will be
seen that 'the Democracy have a majority
of the total electoral vote, as radically
organized and used in lub4, in the nine
States they actually, hold at the present
moment.
The Radicals are aware of this fact,
' and are laying plans 'to checkmate and
defeat the really dominant party of the
republic. They - propose to vote the
eleven excluded States (including Ten
nessee) as a unit for their iiotninee, who
ever he may be. This accounts for the
injustice, rascality and downright frauds
perpetrated by them, through the five
Rump kings, in the districting of the
States held by them io that the negroes
and their black hearted Yankee Puritan
ical allies, should control the conventions
- and secure supremacy in the same any
accounts, Ao, for the persistency with
which tne usaicars adhere to the darr.no
ble dogma of negro suffrage.
Should the Radicals perfect their ar
rangement, "reconstruct the States.
i i.. ...i .
ana concmue io nanm mem to a partici
pation in the Presidential election of
IBbS, and (as tliey certaip.iy would),
ehonld the States vole for the Rump
nominee, me ivsaicms wouia nave a total
electoral vote ol 179, or a majority of
oui -ttven HDonid we gain Illinois (1G),
Indiana (13), Maine (7), New Hamp
shire (5), Wipcensin (8), Minnesota (1),
and Oregon (3), we would still have a
majority against us of four !'
Does this not account for the anxiety
manifested by the Rnmp and its tool,
the cowards and rascals doing their
dirty work in Virginia, North Carolina
Sooth Carolina, Georgia, Florida, At aI
bama, Mississippi, Louisiaua, Arkar,gag
and Texas ? Even should there be a
failure to call conventions in any 0f the
States by the negroizina acts ', i,rioz

gard'.cg; these facr s, the Radicals are
determined to main tain their hold upon
the Federal Government and offices by
bauding the negroes of the States lately
in revolution Bolidly aguintit the white
majority of the republic. In the eleven
States referred to (including Tennessee)
between 400,000 aud 600,000 white men
re disfranchised, for no other reason
that to secure the consummation of the
Radical plot against the rights and liber
ties of the whites of the Union I
Never were desperate, bold and un
principled men more outspoken and
plain of speech! They do not attempt
to hide their purposes they wantonly,
brazenly, and infamously declare their
designs, boast of their power and ability
to carry them out t They ignore the
manifest disapproval of their villainy
expressed again and again at the North,
and audaciously defy Democrats and
Conservatives to belp themselves I Could
anything be plainer than the following
clipped from the New York Tribune, of
the ICth, in th.e course of an editorial
announcing its determination to adhere
' to the filthy negro equality idee?
? "The Republicans are bound to go
nnjer (thank Qodt) if tbey don't en
franchise the Macks- Manhood suffrage
is not a "side issue" for them, but one
of life and death. If tbe blacks are not
enfranchised, Vallandigham could beat
Grant for President. If the Southern
States were reconstructed on a white
basis, be would and could carry all but
one of the fifteen slave States by over
whelming majorities."
