Radical, paper, to be called the West Tennessee Republican, is to be established afiHunlingdon. The first number is tobo issued on lhed8th inst. ; Reports from Washington say that Mr. rrosser,')thisIistrict, ucontcmplatcs appointing a negro cadet to West Point Ho has a right io djs 40 if it is according W his liklngi TnE iron to lay down the entire track of the South and North Railroad, from Montgomery to Limekiln, a point on the Selina and Dal ton Railroad, has been received. . The Radicals in New Hampshire have elected thclr candidate for Governor by a majority of 1,200. Mr. Grant's majority in New Ilampshire was 7,017. Differ ence in tirncj fifteen montlis. The Athens Post claims four hundred majority in McMinn county for the ratifi cation of .the new constitution, and adds: "According to authentic information from Rhea and Meigs, both those counties will vote almost unanimously for the rati fication of the new constitution." TnE Athens Post docs not entertain a very exalted opinion of the veracity of JohnW. Forney, who publishes "two papers, botli daily." The Post says: "A fellow in Washington last week " gulped one of John Forney's articles on the 'situation in Tennessee.' In fifteen minutes afterwards he commenced drip ping lye equal to a two-story ash-hoppcr." The Washington correspondent of the Cincinnati Enquirer writes, March 10, that the Military Committee are not doing much in the cadctship investigation now, a-days. The list of witnesses has been nearly exhausted, and no new develop ments are made by those who are ex amined. No report on the Tennessee Butler's case, nor in fact in any other will be made before next week. The Athens Post puts this point very well:. "Such of our Radical friends as religiously believe that the approaching election will be illegal, and that Congress will interfere at an early day and upsc the whole business, -will not, of course, go to the polls on the 2Cth to participate in the. contest. We do not see how they can cwitbout'giving a flat contradiction to their professions. '' The Athens Post pays a merited com pliment to the Senator from the McMinn district when it says: "Col. Clcmcntson has shown himself to be one of the ablest and most efficient members of the present Legislature, and ha3 fully realized the high expectations of the people of .the senatorial district which ho was elected to represent." The Indianapolis Sentinel declares tbat'for ten years the Radicals have car ried the elections in Indiana by systema , tized frauds, and announces a confident belief that Mr. Hendricks and the Demo cratic State ticket received a majority of the legal votes of Indiana at the October election in 1SG8, but the fairly expressed will of the people, through the agency of the ballot-lwx in that election, was over come by chicanery and fraud. The Athens Post of the 1 lib inst. says of McMinn county : "There wasa good crowd here on Monday, from different portions of the county. So far us we heard an expression, there is less oppo sition to ths new Constitution than many had anticipated. While the Radicals generally will vole against it, we feel con fident in predicting that the result will show a handsome majority in its favor in McMinn.3' I Tub late news from Eugland contains a plum for the Fenians. The Governor General of Canada has received a notifi cation from the mother country that all the regular troops will be withdrawn from the Dominion so ;soon as the spring is fairly opened. The Canadians will then have to maintain a standing army of their own that is, if they want to indulge in that luxury. At all events, whether they jdo or not, the spring will the time for '.another Fenian scare. TnE Athens Post is not a Radical paper, but it has thought it advisable to make this declaration in regard to the man who voted fifty-five times in the Charleston Convention to make Jeff. Davis thoDemo- cratic candidate for President in 1SC0 : "We give the Hon. 15. F. Butler, of Massachusetts, fair warning that if he permits himself to be made a catspaw to pull chestnuts out nf the fire for two such political beauties as Horace Miiynard and San AruclL this paper will not support liia pretensions to the Presidency in 1872." 1 1 A letter from Darlington, S. C, 33-3 Whittomorc was insulted on Uie cars on his way to that place at several point?, arid. lias been' burned . in nearly every town in the district he represented. Not withstanding these demonstrations of dis pl ensure, fr'his friends are active and re gard iisTrotuni to Congress ascertain. Ifhei should . be ro-elcoteil, the House of Representatives ought to so far assert its tlbccncy-as th refuse to admit him. , A New Yoke dispa'ch of the 10th inst. iays : "The slaughter of dry goods still continues. That paper holds, and very properly too, that it is no I uiurv a Biii. lUT'imiuonore, xcwces auu their virtuous confreres to sell cadetships, than' iFlsfor PredcntGrantno tdlTcabl-' net offices, or diplomatic and consular offices abroad, and revenue and other offi ces at home. . The Sun is certainly cor rect in this 'position, and if President Jobnson were in office to-day and had the record that Grant has in regard to Tjarter and trade in office, his impeachment and expulsion from office would be simply a question of time. ' 'Actions speak louder than words," and the manner in vrhich our "gifted" President has acted since his inauguration, indicates very dearly that lie has been, running the office more with the view of filling "his coffers than of' lenefitting the country. He has been playing the same .pleasing little game that Whittemore, Dewees and the other engag ing gentlemen tried their hands at, only it has been on a much larger scale, and the profits have been infinitely greater, The "Gift Enterprise" business was started Immediately after the inauguration, and the cry was "any thing you please, gentlemen, you pay your money and take your choice." Those who could not afford, or did not choose to; or who were too honest to bring greenbacks, bonds or property in exchage for the positions they wanted, stood a very poor chance of getting them, while those who were brought to sec the propriety of worshipping the "rising sun" in an ap propriate manner soon found 'themselves in the richest sort of official clover. A box of cigars was worth a consulship, and a subscription to a house and lot has been at any time good for a cabinet or diplo matic appointment. A very jolly sys tem this, and so perfectly simple, too. But for the life of us wc cannot sec why it is les3 reprehensible than the sale of cadetships, at which, no doubt, the presiding genius of the While House lifts his hand in holy horror. It may be cruel to deprive the "second Washington" of the little perquisites so dear to his heart, but if a too great attachment to the "flesh-pots of Egypt" has given rise to little "irregularities" in any branch of the public sen-ice, it is the duty of our legis lators to investigate them, and wo agree with the Sun in believing that the exten sion of investigations to "the other end of the avenue" might net be .found un profitable. Tins Chicago Times informs us that a Radical newspaper concern in this city whose zeal sometimes outruns its infor mation, "pitches into" the delegates who have recently formed a new constitution for Tennessee, as "narrow-minded," "in tolerant bigots," etc., because they have inserted in that instrument a section pro viding that "no person who denies the being of a God, or a future state of re ward and punishment, shall hold any of fice in the civil department of tliis State." Ji this Radical, fault-finding journal had referred to the present constitution of this State, which was framed in 1834, it would' have found the provision which has aroused its indignation. It lias been in force for more than a third of a cen tury, and has never excited anybody's in dignation before. The Radical "conven tion" of 1SC5 did not even notice it. This Chicago Radical newspaper thought the "Rebels" incorporated this provision in the amended constitution, and jump ing at this conclusion, tried to make a point against the late Constitutional Con vention. The Times calls attention to' the fact that the constitution of New Hampshire prescribes that all civil officers of that State shall be "of the "Protestant religion," a requirement which is cer tainly more narrow-minded, if not more "intolerant," than the. Tennessee qualifi cation. Still Radicalcditors and scrib blers do not find fault with New Hamp shire for retaining this clause in her con stitution. When appointments arc made to the Supreme Bench of the nation, avowedly for the purpose of reaching a certain de cision, on a certain case, affairs have reached a dangerous point. A special dispatch to the Philadelphia Inquirer, in relation to the legal-tender decision, says : "Willi Judge Strong now upon the Bench the Court will be a lie, but before the la?t of the month, or by the time a case is ready for argument, Mr. Bradley will 16 confirmed, ready lo take part in the deci sion and overrule that of Chief Justice Chase." What answer would John Mar shall have returned had he been asked to take a scat upon the Bench, in order to bend the constitution fn a partisan direc tion? But Radicalism has poisoned the minds of the people, and see the result. Decidedly the best thing we have seen for many a day is tho following definition of the portentous word Ku-Klur, which is worthy of Dr. Johnson. It is taken from tho minority report of Dr. Javan Bryant, a Democratic member of the South Carolina Legislature, who was one of the committee to investigate the re ported outrages in the third congressional district of that Stale : "Ku-Kluxes are but the allotropic con ditions of the witches of New England, whose larva) having long lain dormant until transported South in the carpet-bags of pious political priests, (Whittemore el al.,) germinated in the credulous minds of their proselytes, and loomed into 'gor geous hydras and chimeras dire 1" ' TIIK COLORED DKLEKATIOX It will be seen that the colored delegates from Tennessee, who waited on President Grant, were accompanied by all the Ten nessee Representatives except Mr. naw kias. It -so happens that Mr. Hawkins lives in tho village where the greatest "outrage" was committed, and knows all the facts and circumstances connected Willi the affair. He knows thai the deed was committed in a Radical community, and that politics had nothing whatever to do with the killing which occurred. snvEitc o.v nJLoc;irrT. The Chicago. Republican, Radical, sas : A document of the House of Repre sentatives now before us, shows that Mr. Foster Blodgett, who goes to Washington as the representative, par excellence, of Georgia Unionism to contest the scat of Joshua Hill in the United States Senate, served twelve months in the Rebel army. Mr. Blodgett himself testifies, under oatb, that he enlisted for twelve months' service in that army, lait says that he only served six months. His excuse is that his prop erly was liable to be confiscated and him self end family were exposed lo dangers from thoTebel populace, which could only be averted by his cnlistina- in the fVinfnl- uratc service. A bill to, meet the alleged necessity of tho time is before the committee." The-Washington correspondent of the Louisville Commercial writes, March 0? "The delegation from the colored State Convention held at Nashville, Tcnn., cori sistlng of Dr, J. B. Young, of KnoxviM Rev. Moses R. Johnson, of Nashville Revl J. C, Davis, of Newmarket ; James IL Sumner, H. J. C. Napier, of Nash ville, had an interview with the. President this morning by appointment at half past ten o'clock. They were accompanied b the entire Tennessee Congressional delcr gation excepting Mr. Hawkins. Mr. Maynard introduced them to tho Presi dent, and the chairman, Dr. Young; read the memorial of the convention, and also presented him with a copy of its resolu tions and proceedings accompanying Jhem, with a statement of the deplorable condition of things in -that State, whcr lives and property of loyal men were accorded no security. Ho said thai the Stale authorities had been ap pealed to for protection without avail, "Tho President received the delegation graciously and' informed them that, he wouid do all in his power for their relief, and that he would consult with the Scc retary of War about sending more troops into the State. Members of the Tennessee congressional delegation express belief that since the Legislature has failed to take any notice of Governor Senter's mes sage on the subject of mob violence, Sen- ter will call upon the President for troops lo enable him to enforce order. Mean while the congressional delegation is un remitting in their endeavors to procure legislation like that enacted for Georgia last December." TnE Washington correspondent of the Cincinnati Gazette writes, March 9, of the Georgia situation as follows: "The so-called Bingham amendment will, however, be the subject of warm discussion. It will be supported by all but two members of the committee, and opposed by SumneV, Chandler, and other extreme Republicans, who want Bullock and other State officials continued in office, two years beyond the time for which they were elected. The Governor prints a; threatening letter this morning, which lie says ha received last evening, and was busy to-day stirring up opposition to the Bingham proposition. What its fate will be in the Senate can not safely be pre dicted, but the House is likely to insist upon keeping it in the bill. The Franklin Review says truly that the rejection of the new constitution would be heralded as a great Radical tri umph. SEW ADVERTISEMENTS. ' CHANCERY SALES For. SATTJBDAY, APRIL 2, 1870. "The lifo of the flesh Is In tho Blood," Is a scriptural maxim that science preves to be true. Ths people talk of bad blood, as the cause of many diseases, and like many popular opinions this of bad blood ia founded in truth. Tho symptoms of bad blood are usually quite plain oaa Digestion causes imperfect nutrition, and consequently the circulation la feeble, the soft tissues lose their tone and elasticity, and the tongue becomes pale, broad, and frequently cov ered with a pasty, white coat. This condition soon shows Itself In roujhnet of tho skin, then In ebup ttvk and clceeative diseases, and when long con tinued, results in serious lesions of the Erain, Liv er, Lungs, or urinary apparatus. Much, -very much, suffering is caused by impure blood. It is estimated by some that one-fit th of the human family are affected with scrofula in some form. When tho blood is pure, you are not so liable to any disease. Many impurities of the Blood arise from impure diseases of large cities. Eradicate every impurity from the fountain of life, and good spirits, fair skin and vital strength will return to you. KOSKOO! ASA . Liver Invigoraior, STANDS UNRIVALLED! Being the only KNOWH Medicine that ErncTCtTLT ttimulaUa and cohrects the hepatic secretions and functional debasoexexts of the Liver, without Debilitating tho system. A sallow or yellow color of tho skin, or yellowish brown spots on the face and ether parts of the body; dullness and drowsiness, sometimes head ache; bitter or bad taste in the month, Internal beat: in many cases a dry, teasing cough; un steady appetite; epmstiines sour stomach, with a raising of the food: a bloated or full feeling about the stomach and sides; aggravating pains in the sides, back, or breast, and about the shoulders; constipation of the bowels ; piles, flatulence, cold ness of the extremities, eta K 8'KO O ! In these Af fection it is a near a specific a any remedy can be. it uuea jlm wurJL miuutr, vuciwif aim mirztff. iuo Belief which it affords is both errfain aod per ceptible. DISEASES Or THE KIDNEYS AND BLADDER Persons nnacqnaihted with tho structure and functions of the Kidneys cannot estimate the im portance of their healthy action. Regular and sufficient action of tho Kidneys is as important, nay, even more so, than regularity of the bowels. The Kidneys remove from the Blood those effete matters which, if permitted to remain, would speedily destroy life. A total sus pension of the urinary discharges will occasion death from thirty-six to forty-eight hours. When the Urine is voided in small quantities at the time, or when there is a disposition to Urinate more frequently than natural, or when the Urine is high colored or scaldine, with weakness in the small of the back, it should not be trifled with or delayed, but Koskoo should be taken at once to remedy the difficulty, before a lesion of the organs takes Tjlace. Most of the diseases of tho Bladder originate from those of the Kidneys, the Urine being imperfectly secreted In the Kidneys, prove irritating to the Bladder and Urinary passages. When we recollect that medicine never reaches the Kidneys except through the general circulation of the Blood, we see how necessary it is to keep the Fountain of Life Pure. ZOSZ O O !
