We are not earprised to find that there in al

and conveniencp, especially to citizens (A

From one of its well written articles Nash

HEALTH OF THE CITT.
'The. hills of mortality, as shown by the
repori t.f the City Sexton, aud published ia
this work, prove that ia a sanitary point ot
view Nutdiville is, Indeed, highly favored.
Compared with the vital etatistics of other
cities, Ibose of Nashville f-how that none of
whom we have any record, will compare with
her in health. Situated la the interior val
ley of the continent, ber geographical and
climatic) position furniebes ample security
againet vaiious forms of disease which are
common both to more soulbera anl northern
latitudes, while the distance at which she
stand-' from the pea coast, renders bcr com
paratively safe from the ravag'-n ot those
fearful epidemics which are frequently the
ficourge of seaboard towns and lower coun
tries. The fact was first discovered by Forster,
tti naturalist, that the interior valley of this

York, l'liiladelphiu, Norfolk. Ac. 'We are
als'i far below the line w hich marks the limit
of the Typhu fever zone. Cases of consump
tion or any form of tuocrcular disease, are
very rare here, while t he diseases of children
are as unfr-quent and not more fatal, in pro
portion, than those of adult. Ia view of
the general health of the city the conclusion
is irresistalilf!, that the climatical conditions

J&f Messrs. LIardt Brothers continue

Low Ax Co. 1880."." .ii M .
This work, embraces two elegant printed
volumes, 8 to, p. p. 1100, Illustrated with
twelve fine steel engravings. It is one of tbe
most interesting publications we have seen
relating to tbe Revolutionary period begin
ning with 1775 and ending with 1781. '-
The materials of the work are taken from
Whig and Tery Newspapers, published dur
ing the American Revolution, Private; Dia-
ries, and other contemporaneous writings.
Tbey present to the student of this day the
same view J.he readers of the .Revolutionary
period enjoyed the manner and customs of
tbe people, and tbe moral and religious, as
well as political features of tbe time. -
The work contains not only the currstit
accounts by both Whig axo Tort Writers
of the different skirmishes and battles, by
sea aud land, bat, at the same time, gives a
clear idea of the effect of those occurrences
upon the people and their homer. " -' - -
It also embraces accounts of the balls,
parties, marriages and deaths, .criticisms up
on men and books, wedding parties, sleigh
rides, the Whigs tarred and feathered by the
Tories, and vice versa; fox-bun is by tbe offi
cers of the British Army; surprises, birthday
celebrations, practical jokes by men whom
we have been taught to believe were of the
most serious natural disposition; patriotic
songs and ballads; horse-races, games, mas
querades, reviews; anecdotes of the mott
celebrated men and women, popular merri
ments and usages, and the celebrations of
national festivities
Tbe work carries the reader back into the
homes, upon the very hearthstones, the high
ways and battle-fields of the Revolution, and
lets him bear tbe Whigs and Tories lampoon
and abuse each other, and see the armies
fight ia their own way.
. We are indebted to tbe publisher?, through
Mr. G LEtxDtR Ebkrhart of this city, their
General Agent for Tenuetsee, -Alabama and
Mississippi, for a copy of this work, by whom
the public can be supplied.

that I shall. adduce, neitherwouhi you
believe themgh one arose from th dead
and told you of the great efficacy of the
Lithontriptie.
The Faculty and tha public may b
surp'.led to hear of a remedy that wil
certainly dissolve Calculi, or Stone ii
the Bladder, and cause it to pass off
with the urine, and permanent! cure
almost all the chronic .diseases of the?
Urinary Organs, those heretofore in
curable diseases. But the proprietor
is certain that at last be has found out
thi't great desideratum ia JItdicinet a
certain and safe cvre for these diseases.
And all hewants, wishes, or desires, is
for the Faculty and the afflicted to'give
his medicine a fair and imparti:d trial,
and he has no" doubt that thoy will
be thoroughly convinced of its grea.
efficacy; and if it docs not do what h
represents it to do, he would like to
know it and let it be exposed ; but if
it docs eflect these cures, he hopes, Ibr
the salje Of suffering humanity, the Fa
culty the guardians of public health
will give it their influence.' . Ther is
no humbutrgerj in the Lithontriptie ;
every certificate is genuine, and the
proprietor will give one thousand dol
lars to any person who will Cad out
one spurious certificate. -
Any person doubting the truth of
any thing that has been said, ear
neatly and respectfully requested to
correspond witn any person whose
name is annexed to any certificate, and
thereby convince himself of the truth
of every thing that has been published.
The number of bottles that it Ui.--nlly
takes to cure is from one to five,
though it has been known to take ten.
buttles where ther. were .extremely
large formations of Calculi or if tone
to be dissolved in the bladder.
For the efficacy of the Lithontriptie
.tec the Circular, containing some of ihe
most wonderful certificates in the w rld,
around each bottle.
