Miss Mary Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lounsberry, Miss Gladys Boyd and Miss Esther Smith motored to Kalamazoo Sunday. They called at the Ward Bailey home at Texas Cor ners. Mrs. Dayton Orr called at the Austin Griffin home Wednesday. Several from the Valley attended the Surprise party that was given for I Elder and Mrs. Ice at their home in Taw Taw. Miss Esther Smith was the guest of Gladys Boyd on Sunday. Miss Helen Bills, Alvin Baugher and Wilbur Holber were in Paw Paw last week. The Hlooming dale lodge doing the work in a most pleasing manner. Sam Miller met with a serious accident last week Wednesday. He fell backwards out of a wagon, strik ing his head and shoulders. He is 'still confined to his bed and under the care of a doctor. i Arthur Warner was taken serious ly ill last week, but at this writing is gaining slowly. Wedding bells rang merrily one day last week. The happy couple are Mr. and Mrs. Leon Davis. Congratula tions. Mr. Shaver who has b"en very ill, is recovering nicely. Gail Palmer is again on the sick list and under the care of a doctor. EACLK LAKE Mrs. Ida Lai kins and hv niece, Mrs. Grace Grout Van Leon of Cali fornia, will leave for a visit with her sister in Conneaut, Ohio next week. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Warner and Faul spent Sunday with his brother, Ve'm Warner, at Augusta. Marie Warner of Lawton was a week end guest of Dorothy Warner. The Gleaners met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van Blaricom on Saturday evening with forty-seven present. After the business meeting our lecturer, Jesse Hinckley, read an article on "Mother's Day", and Lilli an Andrews recited a poem. Both were excellent. Senator Davis of Lawton and wife were guests', and M Davis gave a very instructive talk on Bills passed at Lansing, which all appreciated, after which all joined in singing "America" in honor of Wal ter Johnson, who was a guest just re turned from eight months service in France. He gave some very interest ing facts about army life. A pot-luck supper was then served by the hos tess and the last meeting to be held was announced for June 7th, at the home of Mr . and Mrs. George Hood. The regular mee-tings will commence again in September. The friends and neighbors of Mrs. Isaac Germ gave her a I'o.-t cri'd shower in remembrance of her birth day. Teddy Johnson. Mrs. Delbert Maguire and Paul were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. John Maguire, it being in honor of Mrs. John Maguire's birthday. Carl Buskirk and family were call ers at the Jay Lyle home Sunday eve ning. Mrs. A. Lurkins who has been spend ing the winter in Ypsilanti is a guest of Mrs. Clark Hood. I V. C. Miss Lillian Andrews returned to ;Vicksburg where she is teaching school. Mr. and Mrs. George Hood took her there in their auto. I Walter Johnson and sister Ethel and Miss Edith Hutchins left Sunday for Chicago to attend the graduation exercises of her sister Mildred at the Jefferson Park Hospital of Nuns. They returned home Wednesday eve ning. I Mr. and Mrs. George Hutchins of Lawrence were guests of his brother Thomas and Miss Edith on Wednes day and Thursday.
