One of tho most graphic illustration that wo have como across recently was given tho other day by n Democratic sneaker at Cane Girardeau. Mr. Lown des II. Davis is n Democratic candidate for Congress In that district, and while limine his reluctant compatriots to stand square up for Greeley and march pouiiy upon 1 no uiiicinmui piatiorm, no assured them that political platforms didn't mean anything and were only meant for convenience. "Political platforms," ho said, "were nothing more tlio platforms of cars, which were merely used to get into tho cars. Tlio sign on the door, "don't stand on the platform," Indicated tho duty of tho Democrats at this tlmo, not to stand in squeamish hesitation on tho outside, but to mount tho Cincinnati platform, no matter how distasteful its structure may lie, and get into ofllco."
