The tempera ture conditions varied but slightly fronm the normal for the week; the de ficiency in rainfall in certain parishes as reported in former bulletins was overcome by general rains ; the sun shine amounted to nearly an average perceutage for the week, atud excepting the severe local hail and wind storms in remote sections of the State that damaged some cotton and corn, neces sitating replanting, the reports of grow ing crops are favorable. During the past seven days the mean temperature for the southern section of the State was slightly below the aver age for the same week of prior years. In the norI thrn section it was about an average, except in thi, extreme i, north ern portion from whence it was reported below the tavertagei, with co'n plaint of cool nights and insuflicient rainfall. [Itntlisno Times.] A beautiful opportunity has been presented to 8. D). McE ery to show his graltitude and sincerity the past week. Mr. Eustis has been struggling for the nomination for Senator. The Nichillts following have been proclaim illg their devotion to Sam McEnery and praising him all over the State. They have said, repeatedly, that he dleser-es mouch at the hands of the l)emnocratic party of Louislana, (al though his suspenld the law proclamna tioti is the principal cIattu,) and that they stood ready arltd ianxitous to show their gratitude. hlow easy then, for him to say : (lentlelten, if you owe me anything, if you want to do tme a service, now is your tinme; give the nomination for Senrator to mly friend Mr. Eustis, and 'you, will do a service, not only to me, but tri tite state at large. lint nobody heard of anything of that kind emanat ing from Mr. MelKoery. lie would rather throw at friend overboard than run any risks himself, ant tihe Nich ills people might have said all right, we'll rnominlate RMr. Eustis but that slitlnles at'counts, which would have left Mlr. 3.eiEnery in the judgshlp. But that would still be a service to the state, ias his elevation to tIhat position would he at stigma on the state, andl on I the p.tty, that years will fal to ob. scure. It Is hardly possible that OGen. Nicholls will reward such a law break. er and law-defier as S. I). McEnery with a position on the bench of the I state. Doing so would be confirma. tion of all the huldozing stories so freely circulated, and (Gen. Nicholls does not approve of bulldozing. But that is not the question at issue. The point is, that Mr. McEnery had a I chance to serve II friend, and as usual the friend gete no help front hin. ItIalecerY antI the nSapreme Jtadgship. L[tDSoto Deolloerat.] Tht rea is much talk to the effect that ex-Governor S. . D.
