In Edgefield county was burned by
an Incendiary on the night of Jan
uarylS. Tbt Incendiary confessed

tain, hired him to do the deed. A
warrant waa Issued for Tennant
and placed In the hands of a con
stable. Tennant refused to be ar
rested. Tne constable called on
General Butler tor a posse. Gene
ral Butler and eight others aocom-

the posse returned the fire, wound
ing three negroes, two mortally.
