When President Polk rose to speak in the court house at 11 o'clock it was to an audience of not more than 3.10 peo ple, of which one third were town people. He began by stating that he meant to tell the truth candidly. Then he proceeded to review briefly the story of tbe Alliauce with its accom plished work and future aims.
