Nick Adams of York & Adams the principal fun-makers of "Bankers & Brokers," which comes to the Grand Tuesday Sept. 18, tells the following story , on themselves which is worth repeating. . .... "It was the week before we started out on our present tour, said Mr. Adams, that I wrote Joe Weber for a pass for the matinee for Mr. Yorke brought the order, and early the same afternoon we boarded a car on the upper West side and after the regula tion transfers fetched up at Weber's Theatre in good time to see the per formance. Adams, who had under taken the care of the complimentary order reached for the pocket in which he had placed it and after a brief and careful search thrust the result of his discovery into the box office for the seat coupons, the ticket seller looked at the order which Adams had given him and grinned. What's this he ask ed? A pass for two, signed by your boss, answered Adams. What boss? asked the Treasurer. Why Joe Web er, answered Adams. Get out? Get out? Answered the box office man, as he flung the order back at the mys i tified comedian.. One glance at the slip and the explanation was easy. Adams had carelessly surrendered the theatre pass to one of the trans fer agents of the care line and was now trying to get two seats on a street car transfer ticket." Citation Notice.
