out the Country.
PROMINENT SPEAKER.
The Simpson M. E. chnrch, like all
the Methodist, churches throughout
the oountry, will observe the bi-oen
tennial of the birth of John Wesley,
the founder of Methodism, on Sunday.
The special services in the morning,
afternoon and evening as announced
by the pastor, will be carried out in
full and an effort made to make it
one of the Sundays long to be remem
bered by Methodists in this city.
The devotional meeting will begin
at 9.30 a. m. and at 10.30 the Rev. A.
B. Richardson, D. D., one of the
greatest preachers in the denomina
tion, will deliver the sermon.
At 6.30 p. m. a John Wesley Mis
sionary meeting will be led by Mrs.
Jane Overington, President of the
missionary sooiety, and again at 7.30
Dr. Richardson will deliver a lecture
on "John Wesley the Methodist."
Dr. Richardson is doubtless one of
the most oompetent to deliver this
discourse, having visited Epworth
Rectory where John Wesley was born,
the Charter House school, where Wes
ley was fitted for college, and Oxford
and London and the main places asso
ciated with hia life and works. Wes
ley hymns will be sung at all the
