Mr. Boyd had been a victim of epilepsy, and ill health is believed to have impelled him to end his life. lie was wealthy and at one time was .secretary and treasurer of the Philadelphia. BERLIN, Aug. 22.—Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Bavaria, who is a physi cian, a musician and a nephew of the regent of Bavaria, is a prince who nev er suffers from weariness. “I go to the Prince Regent "theater every morning,” lie said, “and take part in the rehear sals. I find that submitting myself to the sharp discipline of the director is amusing rather than depressing. After leaving the rehearsals I occupy myself until 3 o’clock in attending my patients and fulfilling my duties as a doctor. Then 1 must go off to the theater and play in the orchestra.” The spectacle of Hip prince playing the horn is one of the sights of the Munich Opera House. Woman Killed Near (Gilbertvilla. WORCESTER, Mass.. Aug. 22.—A special from Gilbertville says that Martha J. Smith, twenty-one years old, of Three Rivers, Palmer county, was killed by a^^ssenger train on the Bos ton and AWKviy division at a private crossing near Gilbertville passenger sta tion. She was walking a little ahead of three other ladies, stepped on the track and was struck by the engine. Her head was severed and thrown forty feet. Tried to Dio liy Kerosene Fire. CHICAGO, Aug. 22.—After saturat ing her clothing with kerosene and set ting it on fire in an effort to commit suicide, Mrs. Mabel Latliey fell upon the floor of the hallway in her home and awaited death. A hoarder in the house discovered the unfortunate wom an and with the aid of a policeman suc ceeded in extinguishing the flames, but not until the woman had been so se verely burned that it is feared she will die.
