Telephone 89f MANY WISH FOR HAPPY NEW YEAR. Hebrew Holiday is Being Generally Observed Throu hout the City. Hebrews throughout the city have l3id aside business today and are celebrating New Years. With all their stores closed the city has quite a holiday appearance. Most of the Hebrews have gathered in their syna gogues and are observing the day in tne custom oi ineir miners. At Temple Beth Mordecai service was held this morning. This evening a short service from 6.80 to 7.80 will be held and tomorrow morning the same program as this morning will be followed. A committee of A. Green bamn and J. Kreielsheimer, of this city, and H. Kolliscn and Henry Wolff, of South Amboy, were appoint ed to take charge of matters. Rev. A. Lebovitz presided and the regular New Year ceremonies were executed. Members of the congregation were attired in their prayer shawls, some of which came from Jerusalem. The congregation of the First Perth Amboy Hebrew Mutual Benefit Asso ciation is engaged in building a hand some synagogue, met in their building on Elm street and an overflow meet ing is held in Music hall. Edward Cohen and Natnan Wilentzhad charge in Elm street and S. Brody and Jacob Levine in Music Hall. MAY HAVE ANOTHER BOAT. It is reported tiiat the steamboat company may put a new boat in com mission after this week. The Quaker City was leased for a term of one hundred days and the time is about up. Unless this lease is renewed there will be a new boat, and it is said that there is some doubt about the boat being leased again. Bargains in real estate are to be found in the real estate column on page 2. REPAIRING UAMAuEb AFTER THE STORM. Boatmen at Work—Signs Along the Central Railroad being Replaced. The fishermen who had their boats moored at the foot of Madison avenno before the recent storm, which dam aged everything and party rained all of the boats along shore, were at work yesterday repairing what they could of the boat’s. Some of the crafts are only strained and with a few extra pieces of wood can be made all right. Others have had their bottom stove in, and it will require considerable work to repair them. „ A number of the smaller boats are broken up so badly that the owners have taken axes and are ohopping them np tor tire wood, me Dig signs, which were blown down at the Cen tral drawbridge, are pat np again by the Newark Sign Company, and they will be repainted. The Central rail road has repaired the damage done to the drawbridge as well as they can. Every incoming tide brings with it large pieces of wood and it is seized for winter use. Trenton, Sept. 22.—In the United States Court here yesterday, Judge Andrew Kirkpatrick announced that he would remove the Continental Trust Company, of New York, as au cilliary receiver in New Jersey of the Great Eastern Clay Company and the National Olay Manufacturing Com pany, both of which have been in the control of Raymond C. Penlield. In the place of the New Y’ork concern there will be named a New Jersey corporation as aneilliary receiver for this State. This action by the court is taken by reason of a petition filed in the case by Patrick White & Sous, of Perth Amboy. President Bannard, of the Continental company, declares that a settlement of the affairs of the allied comtiauies was in sight previous to this move. MR. HANSON'S PURCHASE J. S.
