Out., tlie alleged leader of a hand engaged in smuggling Chinese into this country from Canada. Itoy Hatch, a farmer of 'Vaddington. was also arrested while driving two Chinese who had been turned over to him by Prunin' to Nor wood to put them aboard a train for New York. Latest returns indicate that the damage by the storm was greater than first re ported. The little village of Washing ton was completely destroyed. In tin township of Summer the home and buildings of John Harwood were de stroyed. also the large barns and ware house of Seibert Leonard. The old Summer church was completely demol ished. in Elmira township the storm covered a strip eighty rods wide and did much damage, besides injuring sev eral persons. Will Leave Perth Amboy Tomorrow Afternoon on Special Train Others wili Accompany them The local firemen who are going to Allentown to take part in the parade there are all ready for tomorrow when most of them will leave this city at 3 o’clock on the Central Railroad spec ial train. Some of the city officials and other prominent men, who will witness the parade on Thursday, left early this morning for New Brunswick, where they will attend the Democratic State convention, which is being held to day. This evening they will leave for Allentown and stay until Satur day. City Clerk John Reilley worked a greater part of last night so that every city employe could have his monthly salary by seven o’clock this morning, and they all have a good word for him today. Some of the firemen and their friends have decided not to go on the special train over the Central railroad tomorrow afternoon, but they will take advantage of the special train over the Lehigh Valley railroad, which leaves here at 7 o’clock Thurs day morning and leaves Allentown at 8 o’clock the same night. HARMONIE BALL. The Singing Society Harmonie will hold a ball and grand concert in Wilder Hall, Smith street, on Thurs day evening, October 22.
