MANY PEOPLE ~ WERE PRESENT. Ball Given By Ladies Aid of St. Paul's German Church a Big Success. WEATHER NO HINDRANCE. The Ladies Aid Society, of St. Paul’s German church, held their first grand annual ball and reception in Wilder Hall last night. The weather was bad, but the crowd showed the ladies that tfcey did not mind getting wet. The floor was in fine condition, it having been newly waxed for the occasion. Ice cream, cake and coffee were for sale and the ladie^ found that every thing was soon disposed of. At 9.45 the grand march, lNd by Mrs. Pfeil and Frnnti Comings/and followed by about thirty conlles, commenced. DEMOCRATS MEET SATURDAY. City Convention will be Held in City Hall to Name Candidates. The date for the Democratic city convention has been definitely fixed for Saturday night. The Democrats will then name candidates for alder man-at-large, comptroller, excise com missioners and Commissioners of Appeal. At present there seems to be no one person settled upon for the offices. Alderman-at-large Eckert, it is said, will probably be renominated and William D. Voorhees will run again for comptroller.
