A very pretty and quickly-made traveling bag can be made with an eleven inch square of pink linen. Bind tlie entire square with white tape, then fold one side of the linen to one third the depth. Featherstitch into •ive pockets, three narrow ones and two wide ones, placing a narrow one in tho center at each end, with the Wide ones between. The edges where the square Is folded are overhanded together. The small pockets are for toothpaste, toothbrush and cold cream, the larger ones for talcum powder and powder puft. To have always on hand a supply of celery leaves for soups, trim off the green leaves before serving the relery, wash, drain and place in a. warm oven for α few hours; when thoroughly dry, crush them and put in a tin can with a cover. A pinch of this powder gives a more delicate flavor to pressed meat and stews than does celery seed. —Exchange. Household Xotee. — Keep the stove shut up when not in use. —The house should be flooded with fresh air twice a day. —Use thin pans and kettles over gas; they heat quickly. -—A little kerosene will remove fin germarks from white wood. —Keep a paint brush in turpentine to keep it soft between usings. —Aluminum should never bo clean ed with strong soap or scouring pow der. —It is never economy to allow the refrigerator to be nearly empty of ice. —It Is a question whether very much making over of dresses is gen uine economy. —A dash of lemon juice in water makes a good tooth wash and sweet ens the breath. —Don't forget to close the refriger ator door each time it is used. It will save ice. —When you wash a child's tani-o shanter hat, dry it over a dinner plat· and it will not shrink. —A white kitchen is not only cheerful, but it makes dirt so appar ent that it has no chance to hide.
