ON ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. J. Thygesen celebrated
their twenty-fifth wedding; anniversary
laat night at their home, 402 Hall ave
nue, by entertaining a number of rel
atives and friends. Piano selections
were rendered by Mrs. Kestrup and
Miss K. Thygesen. Dancing was also
enjoyed by the company. The supper
march took place at 5:S0 . Mr. and
Mrs. Thygesen were the recipients of
many handsome and useful gifts.

YACHT CLUB HAS
HOLIDAY DANCE
The midsummer dance and enter
tainment of the Rarltan Yacht Club,
hold at the pariah house of St
Peter's church in Rector street last
night, proved to be a big: success.
There were many members and
guests of the yachtsmen present. The
Clef Club musicians entertained with
numerous vocal, Instrumental and
dancing numbers, Interspersed with
the regular order of dances. The
affair was given under the auspices
of the house committee, with K. W.
McComas ns chairman.
The clubhouse was elaborately
decorated yesterday, and open house
was enjoyed throughout the day by
many of the members -ef the club and
auxiliary and guests.
LOCAL PEOPLE
ENJOY PICNIC
A. Fourth of July picnic arranged by
U. 8. Oarrlson, of Gordon street, was
held yesterday at the Metuchen picnic
grounds. A. frankfurter roast was
served at 10 o'clock. The entire af
ternoon was enjoyably spent by the
members of the party playing games.
The day's festivities closed with a
suppor, which was served at 6:30

forty guests last night at a dinner
dance held at their home in honor of
the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Abel
Hansen, of Metuchen, and several of
their friends from Englewood.
After dinner had been enjoyed the
guests retired to the front porch and
luwn, both of which were elaborately
decorated with Japanese lanterns.
Music was furnished for the dancing
by Prltc\ard's orchestra.

TO MEET TOMORROW
The formation of an auxiliary to
the Red Cross will form the main
topic of discussion at a meeting of
the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Y. M. C.
A. at the Y. M. C. A. at 4 o'clock to
morrow afternoon. Other business
of Importance will also be transacted
at this meeting.

Hour Sewing and Social Club was held

VOTING STARTS IN DITMAS
POPULARITY CONTEST
Voting will start today in the popu
larity contest to be held by the Dltmas
theatre to decide which of the ten
young women in this city are to ap
pear In the local movie entitled "Perth
Amboy Today," and also to attend the
dinner and theatre party to be given
In their honor In New York. AU lo
cal scenes taken here in the past have
been exteriors, but the Tlsdale Indus
trial Film Company, who have
charge of making the picture are
bringing their lighting plant so that
interiors can also bo photographed.
The big, gaudy camera car will be
on the streets dally fi r the next two
weeks taking events and happenings
of Interest. Coupons in the voting
contest will be Issued with all admis
sion tickets and contestants will not
be asked to sell any coupon books or
obtain votes In any other manner
than at the box office when tickets
are purchased. The ten young women
roceiving the largest number of vote*
will each be assigned an equal role In
the film and will be tendered a trip to
New York, a dinner at one of the big
restaurants followed by a theatre
party. A request from Mayor Ten
Broeck has been received to photo
graph the municipal farm and the
public are requested to mall to the
Dltmas theatre any special scenes of
events that they would like to have
taken as it is the intention to make

Sophie Qeddry, ten yearn and six
months old, daughter oc Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Qeddry, of 414 Mechanic
street, died this morning at the city
hospital, following an operation for
appendicitis. She is survived by her
father and mother and sister. Ar
rangements for the funeral are being
completed.

paralysis and Is still In a critical con
dition at the home of his brother near

Min. Maria IL Wentworth
Mrs. Maria M. Wentworth, seven
ty-eight years old, died this morning
at the home of Mr. and airs. Arthur
H. Hop·, 171 State street, with whom
she has made her home for the past
several months. Mrs. Wentworth
was an old member of the First Bap
tist church.
She was the widow of the late
Alvln Wentworth. the first engineer
on the railroad bridge between this
city and South Amboy over the Rarl
tan river.
The funeral will be held from her
late residence Saturday afternoon at
8 o'clock. Rev. William H. Bawden,
pastor of the First Baptist church,
will officiate and the Interment will
be In Alpine cemetery.
