School News
Professor George Vauee has con
sented to Interpret and play parts of
operas to the pupils of the hltfh school
during the morning; assembly in the
auditorium. Mr. Vause commenced
yesterday by explaining and playing
•elections from the famous opera,
Tanhauser.

Ushers were selected yesterday
morning from the senior claecs for the
concert Friday night In the auditorium,
at which time Clccollnl, the famous
tenor, will give α recital. The pupils
chosen were: Messrs. Waldemar Hoy
er, Carl Olsen, .Leon Roth, Rodney
Klelnhans, Henry Kutcher, Edgar Mor
gensen and Francis Hughes,

Yesterday, because there was but a
fialf day session of school, only the four
morning classes could be held at the
high school, the two afternoon periods
having to be omitted. As school be
gan at 8, several of the morning reci
tations were considerably lengthened.

week at the Majestic theatre next
ruesday. Every inch of scenery for
he burlesque, every costume worn by
the prima donna, the burlesquers and
the chorus girls, and every act on the
bill, will be completely new. Joe Hur
llg, who is sponsor for the Bowery
Burlesquers, promises a better show
than the average, which Is "going
some."

3RD DISTRICT MEN
WHO GO MUM
Members of Red Cross Will
Give Men Supper on
Hi Friday Night.

Sayreville, Sept. 19:—The names of
the 124 men who are to comprise the
third district's Quota to embark for
Wrlghtstown on Saturday of this
week are given below.
There will be a roll call at the
third district headquarters, Sayreville
Town Hall, Friday night of this week
at 6 o'clock, after wlilch those desir
ing may return to their homes pro
vided they can get back In time to
make the train which leaves South
Amboy, N. J., Pennsylvania railroad,
at 9:06 o'clock Saturday morning.
Those who live at such a distance to
prevent them going to their homes
for the night will bo taken care of by
the government. They will in all
probability be stationed at South Am
boy for the night where it will be
convenient to get to the train In the
morning.
The members of tho Sayreville
Township Chapter of the American
Red Cross are planning to give tho
boys a supper on Friday night of this
week after the roll call which no
doubt will be very much appreciated.
Rev. B. C. Llppincott, of the Metho
dist Episcopal church, and Rev. W.
A. Gillllltin, of the Church of Our
Lady of Victories, both of this place,
will address the boys in connection
with the dinner.
Tho posting of the list by the local
board constitutes notice to each of
the persons named herein that they
are ordered to report at the hour,
date and place named, and that from
that hour they are in the military
