"Curiosity Calls" Do More Than Waste Your Time During periods of emergency such as fires, accidents or other untoward happenings, the telephone exchanges are flooded by "curiosity calls"—calls made by people who are curious to know all about the occurrence. "Curiosity calls" clog the channels of communi cation, overtax telephone facilities at periods when unobstructed, efficient service is needed most, and stand in the way of necessary, urgent messages. They waste the time of the caller, for no tele phone operator possesses information concern ing any happening outside the central office. We are confident that it is only necessary to call attention to the futility and the danger of "curiosity calls" to enlist the cooperation of all telephone users in eliminating them.
