■Baseball - DAILY REVIEW OF SPORTS - Great Outdoors V ■ . - · - 9 mum series m END TODDY Giants Have Chance to Win Fifth Game-Nehf and .Hoyt Opposing Hurlers The chance of th· New York Yankees to cop the present world's series, their first since New York was represented In the American league, depends entirely upon the showing of Waite Hoyt In the eighth [urne of tho series scheduled for this afternoon. Hoyt, the Brooklyn schoolboy, has succeeded In defeat* ing Art Nehf. the Giant southpaw ace, in two games to date. The Giants bats have been idle in these two contests, and if the Brooklyn boy, a Giant outcast, succeeds In holding bis old teammates again to day, the Yanks still have a chance, h The Giants have made known Β their intention of batting hard'tra hind Nehf in the game this after noon, and if they do, the 1921 clas sic will be over. Ward's error and Kewster'· juggle of tfnyder'a drive gave the Giants their second and winning run In the game yesterday afternoon. This was Carl May's sec ond defeat in three starts. Phil Douglas, the Giant spltball artist, was opposed to Mays in three games and as a result has won two games in three starts. Pre-serles dope has gone all wrong. No one made known a be lief that Barnes would turn in two wine for the Giante, and who ever thought Douglas would beat Mays In two out of three starts. Hoyt'· show ing against Nehf also upset the fig uring of the dopesters. The Yanks yesterday added anoth er cripple to their list, Mike Mc Nally. who proved a shining light for the American league entry in games played to date. He injured his shoulder sliding to a base and was replaced by Frank Baker. Baker secured two hits. Thi IS IS a Studebaker Year We have been asked the question how we account for the tide of Studebaker popularity which has swept the country. Among others, two fundamental causes explain it: 1. The outstanding cause is the value of Studebaker Cars, in quality, style, performance, durability, and price, demon strated by the complete satisfaction and enthusiasm of nearly one-half million owners who know values. 2. The universal respect for and confidence in the integrity of the name STUDEBAKER which for seventy years has been the symbol of quality and fair dealing. Crowning proof of the dependability of Studebaker cars is reflected in our diminishing business in service parts. With approximately 116,000 more Studebaker care in operation on September 1st, 1921, our parts business the first eight months of this year was 3% less than in the same period two years ago. While our car manufacturing plants operated this year 41% ahead of last year, our service parts manufacturing plant has operated at from one-half to two-thirds of last year. Studebaker Cars are standing up in service and staying out of repair shops, to a degree unexcelled, we believe, by any cars of w hatever price. The Studebaker Corporation of America. A. R.
