Local People “Painfully I
Healthy,” Doctors State
The people of Perth Amboy and
vicinity are in better health gener
ally at the present time than they
have been for many years, accord
ing to the opinions stated by a
number of member* of the medical
profession here. There is less sick
ness reported and the general con
dition of the population Is ••pain
fully healthy." as one physician put
It. Even the hospital has fewer
cases than usual.
Several reasons are advanced for
the lack of business among the doc
tors. One is tho explanation for
the few accidents occurring among
factory employes. The Industrial
establishments are not operating at
capacity and therefore there are
fewer men at work around ma
chines which are likely to Injure the
careless workman. Emergency
cases such as this have always play
ed an important part In supplying
patients and with the plants em
ploying comparatively few men
there is a corresponding decrease in
the accident list.
Another theory advanced is the
fact that many people are out of
work and those still on the Job
have experienced radical reduc
tions in wages. Such a condition
is likely to keep patients away from
the doctors' offices unless they are
really seriously sick enough to have
need of medical attention. This
theory is thought to be largely re
sponsible for slackness in the pro
fessoin."
Still another cause for the pain
ful” health of the community is
given as being due to the last epl
demlc of Influenza. Large number* 1
of the less healthy people died In
the epidemic and the remaining
class is hardier and less suscepti
ble to the slight coughs, colds 1
and light cases of grip, tonsilitis |
and other common "cold" diseases.
The general depression Is also
said to be affecting the uhdertak
| ers.
KEYPCRT
The old steamer Keyport was
blown up on Wednesday night at
S o'clock after it had lain at the
rt dock for a number of
years. Several years ago the boat
was in a collision in New York
and had not been in service since.
The company finally decided that
with little effort It could be demol
ished and will later bf removed j
from the dock.
A slight fire was noticed In the
Mansion House chimney Wednee
day which was quickly extinguished
Dr. H. T. Hopkins was the guest ,
of friends at New York Wednesday. ]
Mr. and Mrs. Prank Hauser were
visitors at New York Wednesday.
The third quarterly conference of
| the Methodist Episcopal church was i
held Wednesday night at the close
of the prayer service.
Plans are being completed for
the Epworth League convention to
be held at Calvary M. E. church
Thursday, October 27.
The Ladies' Aid of Calvary M. E.
church enjoyed a pleasant meeting
at the home of Mrs. Garret Van
Giesen Wednesday afternoon. A
THOUSANDS OF THIN PEOPLE HAVE,
SPLENDID APPETITES YET FAIL TO PUT
ON FLESH AND GAIN WEIGHT —WHY?
_ . I'
Mronir. St ralgh forward Advice to Thin,
I'ndereloped Men and Women
If you aro thin, icrawny and unde
velop<*l. If your face is peaked and your
cheeks and neck exhibit unsightly hollows.
It's almost certain that your nervous sys
tem is at the bottom of the trouble. You
can eat three, yes fottr, substantial, fat
.producing meals a day. but an long r*
your stomach has an Insufficient supply
of nerve force this food you eat will pass
out of the body with little if any benefits
In order to assimilate properly the
nourishing food you e«t and convert It
into healthy tissue and fat the nerves that
control the process of digestion and as
similation must be put In first class shape
and until that Is done you might lust as
well quit trying to put on flesh. Your i
system Is starving for something that will
turn the food you eat into healthy stay- 1
there flesh and it can only be done In (
one way—by correcting faulty nervous di- |
geation.
Thm, nervous, run-down people, how- j
ever, with impoverished blood and halt
starved looks are hailing with delight n
quick and certain make of solid flesh
called EVANS’ TRIPLE PHOSPHATES)
that fs unequalled for repairing faulty I
digestion and correcting nervous digestive
troubles. In f*ct the makers of Evans'
Triple Phosphates guarantee that one
month's treatment will increase your
weight by several pounds and within ten i
days make you feel like a new being,
full of ambition, vigor and n desire to
accomplish things Barnekov & Petz and j
leading druggists everywhere have agreed
to supply Evans' Triple Phosphates and j
guarantee It to do Just what Is claimed
for It or money refunded.
Caution; While Evans- Triple Phos- .
{•hates accomplishes wonders in nervous I
digestive trouble and as a general nerve I
tonic, it should not be tak< n by anyone ,
who objects to a few* additional pounds
of solid stav-there flesh.—Adv.

CATARRHAL DEAFNESS
MAY BE OVERCOME
If you have Catarrhal Deafness or head
and ear noises or are growing hard of
hearing go to your druggist and get l
ounce of Parmlnt (double strength), and
add to It >4 pint of hot water and a little
granulated sugar. Take 1 tablespoonful
four times a day.
This will oft»n bring quick relief from
the distressing head noises. Clogged
nostrils should open, breathing become
easy and the mucus stop dropping into
the throat. It is easy to prepare, costs
little and is pleasant to take. Anyone
who has Catarrhal Deafness or head j
noises should give this prescription a trial
