When one knows that the si;y of the family, or the size of the house planned for, will make servants necessary or desirable, the best thing to do. from all standpoints is to plan quarters for thesj helpers when pli nning the house. Of course there is no reason why the servant's room in this house, which Is so planned, cannot be used for some of the family if hired help is not needed, for the quarters pro vided are just as desirable from the standpoint of healthfulness, pleas other rooms. Can Be Isolated .* It is grouped with a bath, linen eloset, rear sair leading to the kit chen. and atti c stair, a suite which can be isolated completely from the rest of the house. Only on» of the four family rooms does not have outside openings on two sides. If wanted, even this one could also be provided with cross ventilation by the use of a bedroom slat door in addition to the regular door. Generous wall spaces permit the placing of the bed in each room in a position where it will escape drafts and also leave room for the dresser and dressing table, where best light is assured. The two front chambers ar made especially attractive by dormer-iike bays. Wide window stools form inviting seats, or sunny places for flowers. Each one of thess rooms has two clothes closets. Large Living Room On the first floor the living room sweeps across the entire side of the house, with triple casements toward front and rear, and a single French door at each side of the fireplace. There are bookcases and a built-in seat (which is also a convenient chest) at one end of the room. The living porch, to which the French doors lead, is wholly en closed by French doors and case ments. A central stair hall and vestibule is an arrangement that affords greater quiet and privacy to the liv ing room, and also increases the efficiency of one’s heating plant where it is in use. There is a closet in the hall for outdoor wraps. This front hall is directly acessible from the kitchen. The dining room is octagonal shape. A hospitable fireplace oc cupies a rear corner, and two wholly delightful corner china cupboards occupy the front corners with triple casements between them. Toward the side another group of three < as .i.ents and two side sash form a bay. A large light pantry between din ing room and kitchen is equipped with sink and dressers and so makes an admirable 'place for washing dishes. The kitchen boasts an indoors and grade entrance to the cellar, that do not necessitate crossing the kitchen. There is a refrigerator rigged up for outside icing in an entry of its own. -r “MONEY” The most important element necessary in the erection of a house is “MONEY.” Ask us about the plan whereby this Bank and the Metropolitan Life In surance Company will finance the erection of dwellings.
