Frank M. Denton conducted the
religious services at the Union Pro
testant chapel at Brunswick Gar
dens. near Old Bridge. Sunday
night and a good attendance was
present to take part in the service
of song preceding the service. The
Sunday school of the chapel will
hold their Christmas exercises Sun
day evening. December 25. and will
be in . barge of Otto Wahrendork.

Announcement has been made by
the First Baptist church that the
•'watch meeting’ services at the
church on New Year's eve will be
held as in .former years and the
congregation of the Jamesburg
Methodist '-hurch have been invited
to join with them. The custom of
enjoying a feast of good eats at the
■troke of twelve will be omitted this
year ow-ing to the New Year's fall
ing on Sunday.
The serv ice held at the Methodist
church the past ten days have
been discontinued owing to a lack
of interest in same. They will be
resi'med following the new- year.
Marshal Fillhower has inaugu
rated a novelty in the borough
lockup that has appealed to many
of the better class of tourists who
aeek shelter. A new downy mat
tress and pillows have been placed
in the room adjoining the cells and
applicants for lodging who can
furnish suitable references as tio
tlielr character are given the bed
in the private room. The idea
has made a hit with the unfortu
nates who are corwpelled to aeek
shelter and are- not of the class
who desire to sleep in the ordinary
cell with pine boards for the mat
tress.
